Thank you all for your comments and time to look at these Bebera Branca figs.
Hope Pattee gets better from those problems soon and back to the figs in force
Martin, I have just a few young potted trees of the Black variant but no figs yet
Will try and find some samples to show.
Bill, ...if I could ?! ...
Tom, yes the more sun you give them the better.
This particular variety seems to me to be much demanding and if all goes well, when fully ripe shows a perfectly filled interior with jelly to spare...even before you cut it, you have a good feeling of what you are going to see due to its 'high density'...it is not only big but heavy as well. some figs get to the 150+grams... The figs shown on the pictures were certainly visited by the insect, given the full and deep red insides.
Rui, Thank you my friend. Keep tendering your little tree and it will be a good producer.
At home we do it many times...As I cannot (allergy) even smell milk my plate is supplied with presunto caseiro which I love to eat with fresh figs and some melon cubes... The rest of the family goes for the
cottage cheese, beer or the sparkling 'vinho verde' goes very well with it
