Nice trees you have there.. Abebereira (Bêbera Preta) is a prolific tree of good  black figs.  In your hands now to make it even a better fig. I am convinced that you know the trick...

Your tree looks great -robust, healthy - and maturing a lot of figs. Nice pictures !
Fortunately, here the raccoons have long gone.. we just keep their pictures and a nice couple in the nearby zoo. But the birds, yes ! too many and shameless. These bluish long tails learned how to steal fast and clean .. They do not peck/taste the fig ..go straight to the convenient branch and in a couple of seconds cut the fruit through its foot and go with it !
Last year they stole from my young  potted   'Inchário Amarelo'  (a Smyrna beauty! and a novelty) I was tendering in the balcony, its first and only 3 ripe figs .
I shall try to bring soon to the forum, more pictures and talk about the now famous Abebereira and Branca families..

You should try to compare Estella's Abebereria to Sultane.
The tree in the last photo resembles Sultane a lot .
Do you have sultane ?

Snapped a couple pics of my Abebereira this morning.  Looks like I *might* get a fig this year.  This is in a 5 gallon SWC.

jdsfrance, I do not have a Sultane if you can believe that! I thought I had them all, seems like it anyway. ;-)

Aaron, at this point all but one are in pots. Hope to get them in the ground some day. Got to have the time and money to fight gophers (with gopher cages), raccoons and opossum with electric fence (?) and birds with netting/cages/? and BAD (can't even call it) soil. Is it worth it to plant them or just keep them potted?

I am building a cage to put maturing potted figs into for protection. Hope to get to try some fruit this year. You have your long-tailed bluish fiends, I have mockingbirds that just peck a small hole in EVERY fruit.

In your case, although not fair to the figs because you are in Sunny Cali, it might be easier to keep them in pots...or at lease it sounds like it...
The reason I asked because just few days ago I inherited a 5 gallon really special variety from a lady from neighborhood. It has been in the 5 gallon for few years now and it is awake already, so , I don't want to disturb the roots now or this year...So, I was wondering how much longer it can be in 5 gallon without being root trimmed and repotted.

It wont hurt the plant to slip it out of the pot to look.  You can always just put it in a bigger pot now then attend to the roots when it's dormant.  I would pot it up now.  I think it'll grow better in a bigger pot.

Hey Aaron, I agree with Bob. I would up-pot it now. No need to wait until it's dormant.

On such a small pot just don't touch/mess up the roots - you don't need to.
Just punch a hole in the dirt of the bigger pot, and put the tree in the middle of the pot.
Water for the dirt to settle and not leaving air-holes and the roots of the tree will find their way to the additional dirt.
You can as well put fertilizer in the dirt ... It is still early enough for that .
