Abebereira main crop

I picked these two beauties today.  Large fig.  Flavor was sweet and rich with very little seed crunch.  I'll bet with more heat and age, it will be as good as Lampo described in his 2013 report.  It's a solid 8/10 for me.  I'll have a handful more ripening soon.

Notes

  • Started from cutting in winter/2013
  • 5 gallon self watering system
  • Pro-Mix BX w/mychorrizae
  • Oscmocote mixed with potting mix

Awesome, Frank.
Mine is juuust starting to put on figlets.
No hope for me :(
Those are gorgeous looking figs, love the cracks in the skin.

Thanks Rui.  Surprisingly, this was one of the first varieties to put on figs this spring.

The figs look delicious. May the next ones taste even better. Maybe you can bump it up to a 8.5 or 9. Nice size tree. You could get a couple air layers going it.

Looks great, Frank.  Seems like I've been waiting forever for mine to mature.

Frank, that is a very nice looking fig. Thanks for sharing

Frank, your lucky to have those mature already, I lost my earliest baby figs to chickens, I now have one fig left about the size of the green ones in your picture. I hope it does mature, as I recall others have had very late ripening. My plant wasn't pinched and grew like a rocket, that helped keep my one fig out of the reach of the chickens.
