Vigorous grower without no signs of FMV. I have three of them in 10 g containers. All of them came from Baud.

Zaitun- how rain resistance is this particular variant?

Navid.

@Navid ,
It was "ok"  on the hard rain last year , No split/cracking , but the on the wet season the level of  sweetness was reducing

Salam.

Just add this one to my wish list, Zaitun thanks for sharing.

Thank you Zaitun. I was told that Nero 600 is also another syn. of Abicou. Do you grow the Nero 600 in your collection as well? If so, any similarities or differences between the two cultivators?

I can not clearly view the leaf pattern on your plant, but Marius's Nero600 leaves do match the leaves on my Abicous very closely.

Marius's N600;  http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/Nero-600-5968536

Also, last season Herman reported that N600 was the best performing fig for him in NJ, it did not split during the heavy rains. Both of these two cultivators, N600 and Abicou could be the answer of finding the most rain tolerant fig (no splitting or souring) variant out there, at least for now.

Navid.

Abicou is a Cali-BT variant, I'm led to believe, could be wrong, though.

@Eden , Salam
I hv sent you PM..&  Thanks

@Navid & Shah ,

I dont have Nero 600 , to find out or to compare whether ABC & NR600  are both having a similarities.
I attached the Abicou figs leaf pics . hopefully would help a little

Thanks n best rgrds

Love the fig photos you show here.  Thanks for sharing, Zaitun.

Hi Zaitun,

Here are some pics that I took from my Abicou plants (leaves).

Shah8,

You are wrong. Mr. Baud NEVER mentioned Brown Turkey or any Turkey related fig when we discussed this variant.

nkesh099, if you google Abicou and San Piero, or Abicou or California Brown Turkey, you'll come up with results that say that Abicou is a synonym or a member of the Brown Turkey variants.  It's even in the figs4fun database if you compare Abicou and CBT through the common alt of San Piero.  This isn't to say that it's correct to think so.

Shah8,

I go by what the main source of my plant told me and it's not what has been posted on Google or any other data bases. I trust Baud in his knowledge and experience of growing figs for many years.

Navid.

I think we need to educate ourselves more closely on the subject of Origins.

The idea of even using CALIFORNIA in any name is a poor one knowing that no fig has ever originated in the America's that was not a product of cross-breeding or a found seedling from an established one.

I have an Argentine fig and we all know that's not right.

There are so many figs in Italy that I have begun to look at that it would make your head spin.

I think using BT as a reference for most things is laziness on our part.

Gorgi has come back from Malta with so many excellent figs, we have not once said it's a Celeste variety. Malta isn't exactly huge. So the ability to find so many figs in a small area shows that it is possible not everything is based on BT.

If we believe everything on the internet, then we are in for a world of trouble.

I agree with you, Navid.

Very nicely said Dominick.
We are really in big trouble if we believe everything on the Internet.
