Abique Petite splitting

Heres some pictures of some Abique Petite figs I picked today this is the first time I seen them split like this "this is the first year I got figs from this tree" are these known to split? I did have to move the tree into my greenhouse because of the raccoons could it be the excessive heat? the ones that didn't split are fantastic the ones that did split have zero flavor

Yes:Greenhouse humidity, heat, over watering, and lack of air circulation, makes some cultivar to split like that.
Some cultivars will grow and ripe fine in greenhouse, and some not.!
That is why one have to try more than one cultivar to find what works in your  climate.
It is doing fine outside here in NJ,so far.

Worthy keeper. Delicious

None of mine have split and its in the greenhouse and watered regularly. Don't give up on it, the figs are excellent and best just when they start to "wrinkle".

Mine has tripled in size this season...I am impatiently drooling every morning when I visit my deck trees... Maybe next year some little figs

Thanks for replies I'm not giving up on it yet it produced allot of figs maybe it was the shock of the intense heat? When it was outside none of the figs split? we will see next year

I couldn't imagine why you would give up on it considering you have been posting pics about snacking on it for the past month and a half :)

Well like I said this is the first year I got figs on it and if it's habit is too split open then I would get rid of it I had a Brunswick the figs were great but only one out of five were edible once they split open all the taste is gone that got the axe :-)

Ah okay, I didn't realize it was first year producing! Congrats.

Herman2 I think you are right I took the tree out of the greenhouse and no more split figs ???

Good to know!
