On my way back to work from my lunch break I drove by this seminary in Carson, ca. It was always hard to see in since the walls were 4ft thick bushes but this past year all were removed so it's easier to see inside the grounds, looks like a campsite/park. I knew there were fruit trees in the compound from being so close to the street, pomegranate, persimmon and some stone fruit. As I drove by I noticed a group gathered around one particular tree with ladders out and I instantly turned around, I figured it was some kind of pruning class. As I was walking up to the group I realized it was a FIG TREE! The lady in charge intercepted me and I asked if I could watch for a bit and she kindly said yes. Unfortunately she had no idea what variety of fig it was only that is was a dark color. All I was thinking as I stood there was how I would prune this monster down, haha. Turns out the class was a mix of diy gardeners and some college students from a local school on a horticulture field trip. Had a nice conversation with the teacher and went back to work, I think he learned more about figs from me in ten mins then he previously knew. You know where I'll be during my lunch breaks when summer comes, MUAHAHAHA...
