So as you can see things are off to a fast start and an early season, hopefully no more frost or freezed or I'll be in bad trouble. These are my in ground trees. My potted trees, which are on the North and shaded side of the house, are just starting to swell buds.

Thanks for showing your pictures Gene. ; )

You're more than welcome, Martin. I just have to get me a camera that will take close ups better than that. I love everyone pictures, that's why I post mine.

Gene, same here. All have green buds now and a few have leaves unfurling. If it freezes and /or frosts again, we'll be robbing all the wife's bed sheets and blankets. I've got my fingers crossed, so we won't have to get in trouble.LOL!

Copy that Gene...same thing here in North Florida.

Some of my fig trees here are breaking bud, but not all.  Peaches have blooms that are big and fat and I wouldn't be surprised if they opened in the next week. The two bare root, low chill cherry trees I ordered and potted up have buds swelling and turning green, maybe open in the next week or so. Citrus are all loaded with blossoms about to open.

It was only 50 here today, supposed to be mid 30's tonight, I'm about 30 miles north of Houston. Don't know about more freezes, but we'll likely get another frost at least. I'll be festooning the porch and yard with blankets and sleeping bags and Christmas tree lights if we do.

We are hovering in the mid-upper 30s tonight.  I was going to put the barrels back on today, but i fell and landed on my foot yesterday.  I only managed to heel in an apricot tree before the pain and swelling got to me.  So the figs will have to manage tonight on their own.  Fortunately, the winds have died down.

Thanks for the pics gene. Seeing other folks trees is one of my favorite reasons for coming here :) .

It's been an unusually warm winter for us here in KY this year as well. The warmest in the 12 years I've lived here. So far our lowest low has only been 17F. Last year it was the coldest at -4F. Odd weather. I could have left many of my trees unprotected this year with minimal damage.

I have been hearing our spring frogs calling since the end of last month. Don't usually start hearing them until the end of Feb. We're getting a reminder now that it is still winter though with overnight lows being back in the 20's for the next few days. More typical Feb temps for us.

I just looked out the window and watched a flock of Canadian geese land on the lake in my backyard.  They usually stay here long enough to lay eggs, hatch them and then off they go. Usually competing with the Mallard ducks.  I bet my lone Crane shows up soon too!   But this is their earliest arrival ever.   Wacky weather for sure.

Not even mid February and I am already getting leaves. I think these weren't stored in a cool enough area. Hope they will be ok.

Woke up this morning around 7am.  19ยบ outside.  Figs in the garage, already have brebas galore.

Freeze predicted for Saturday night, and it got to 31*. I covered most of my budded trees to protect them from frost although with this wind I doubt there will be any. I uncovered them Sunday morning and the low overnight was 41* I check them this morning for any signs of freeze damage. It did get cold enough to put a 1/4" of ice in a full bucket of water. It stayed below 32* for about 2 hours.

Gene, hoping the best for your trees.  Sending some warm vibes your way.  It's looking like we're possibly in for a night of snow flurries/slush, possibly tomorrow.  I saw what this front did to Texas, I figure it'd be hitting you guys last night.

Gene, I covered all my budding trees with sheets and clothes pins Saturday. It got to 33F but had no frost at all!I guess it was too windy. I'd say we lucked out for now, at least until the next one! Whew!

Most all my buds, figs and leaves seem alright. I have a few tips that show some sign of damage but will have to wait a while to see. Nothing major for sure. It was a close call but I think we're alright. I hope and pray it's the last one for this year.
