While cruising markdown racks yesterday, I saw fig tree.  Hmm a treasure?  Nope BT.  Garden manager (whom I have gotten to know quite well from my turn trash into treasure ability) said " Joyce take the fig. " No  uh huh. " It's 3 dollars."  No don't want it.  "1.00  I have to get something for it and I will throw these two pieces of lucky bamboo that fell out of their pot in for good measure, see they have nice roots"   Now the ladies that work there have moseyed to the back and are shaking their heads up and down and smiling.   "Take it, Take it. Nobody wants it"  Ok, OK.   Husband says that it the uglist plant ever.   So home it came.  Pruned, Repotted fertilized.   Hope you all are proud of me.  LOL   Joyce

Well done Joyce . Feels great to save one and they usually understand or feel the kindness you show them and pay you back in awesome figs. Pic please, when and if you get a chance. Working downtown ATL today. Brings back memories of NYC.. It is cool not to be in the woods once in a while, lol.

The fig Gods may reward you for rescuing the BT, and it will be a tree that was labeled wrong!  The "Celeste" I purchased from a garden center turned out to be a LSU Purple!

Hi adoresfigs45,
Nice find. Now you just need to find out if it really is a BT .
Do you have a little pic ? Just to know if I'm proud of you, or reaaaaaaally proud of you :)

I myself kept haunting a shop that has a spring sale on plants, and for two years they had small fig trees - yes labelled BT  too - but they were not BT - I have one just to try and find out.
But they saved my soul... They had no fig trees this year :( .

figs are a rare find at any of the bog box stores in Seattle. But for a dollar how can you lose?
