Adriano fig ,from Adriano (Canada)

Anybody of you had ripe fruits from Adriano cultivar?
I have a plant about forth year and ,grew very slow,it has a few green figs now,and it should ripe this year,but it did not ripe last year,and before it did not fruit.
In my experience it looks a lot like Kadota ,when about leaves,but I have to take Adriano's word,that is a mutation occurring in his orchard and so he named it.That is why I would like to see a pix from someone that got a ripe fruit,or a description of ripe fruit,or comparison to Kadota,Dotato ,Banana fig,White Texas Everbearing,Peter Honey,which turned out is one and the same,here,in my orchard.

Vasile ill tell you a little about this fig. The mother tree was originally a pingo de mel fig from portugal that started producing yellow figs with red stripes. Allot of cuttings and plants were taken from this tree but a couple season's ago the original plant reverted back to yellow figs. Adriano still has two Adriano plants one produces striped figs the other does not.

My Plant is still young and probably wont produce any figs yet but I believe some people will get yellow figs only and other's might get the striped figs time will tell. Could have been age related or weather related but if your just looking at the two side by side you would say its the same fig in a blind tasting contest you could tell the difference.

You are right about that fig looking like a Kadota or Peters Honey and after growing pingo de mel, Kadota & Peter's honey its been my observation that some of them are Either Related or Identical. My peter's Honey & Pingo de mel looked nearly Identical in leaf shape & Fig shape & Color but the pulp on my Peter's honey was pink and Pingo de mel was Yellow wich the center a Light brownish color and much better tasting.



Thanks Nelson:I am not happy to have it look like Kadota ,etc,because these cultivars,do not ripe properly here in my Backyard,in that up to half fruits ,dry inside instead to ripe and are inedible.
The other half ripe just fine and they have Yellow inside and white yellow outside.
That is why I am not happy about them,and I thought It is only in my climate that ,it does that but today WE have a post on Figs4fun and it is happen in Texas,with a white Texas ev.,which basically is the same as Kadota.

I have given my tree away. Not suitable here.

It seem that the tree is not what it was  drummed up to be,it is  true that Adriano never said it came on as a sport on a Kadota Tree.He only pointed it was a sport mutation.If this little detail was on,It would have been a red flag to me.
I find it disingenuous that Adriano,describe his cultivars with the qualities they were performing in their native ideal climates ,and not how they perform in his Garden,in Canada.
If we want to promote the growth of fig trees for the backyard,we should always ,describe how the cultivar is performing in our Back yard in our location,and not in Calabria Italy(This is only an example).
It is the only way that a new young gardener can make an educated choice,of buying a cultivar that will make his Family happy,for a lifetime.

I just got an Adriano this year, it nearly died all the way back after transplant and not is growing very vigorously, about 10 inches in the last month, I hope it produces the red striped figs, I will find out next year I guess at least I have RdB to look forward to, assuming it survives the winter.

I bough an Adriano several years ago from Brugmansia Quebec nursery, who Got it from Adriano. Like you, it took me several years to get it to ripen as the growing season is very long. Now that I am finally getting fruit this year, I see it either never was the Adriano or it has reverted back to Pingo de Mel. I am happy with the fig, in spite of everything. I never imagine myself being a fan of a honey fig, but here I am. It is quite good.
