Adriatic /king or else- cuttings available!!!

Remember when I posted this?

http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/adriatic-cuttings-all-gone-but-jon-encantofarm-has-potted-trees-6276905?pid=1284032402#post1284032402

This afternoon I got a call from my boss saying he had pruned his tree, and that his breba crop came earlier (June). The main crop usually does not ripe here, or he thins the tree, so that some can ripe, I don't know the story... this is what I know. I picked the branches from the ground, tied them to my car and rescued them.. still left much there on the driveway.

I have more than I need and I am willing to wrap them and send them to whomever wants for the postage cost.  I cut out the fresh green as those are hard to root, most of them are one, 2 or 3 year old, strong branches, and should root easier.

I found several half eaten ripe figs... hum, they were like jam, unbelievably good and got finished by me on the drive home.

The one pictured was the only other that I could find to bring home for a picture, does not look fully ripe like the ones that were half eaten.CIMG1693.JPG

Should you wish me to send you, please let me know by PM, asap, as they should not sit in water for long and I don't have room for them in my refrigerator.  I used the strong cuttings for root stock and they work great.

Were the ones on the tree main crop?

Very generous of you, thanks! PM sent.

Bob, there was lots of main crop, but they were very green. I think the picture one is a breba.   I sent you these already, did yours rooted?

You mean the plant that this came from  :)

Wow! how did you like it? The half eaten ones looked a lot like yours, jammy pulp.. very sweet with a little crunchy of a few seeds.  lots more cuttings again... Hey Bob,  you know DK, is this fig  a DK????

Wow, that is very nice of you , Grasa!
The figs are super but you guys are so much later in eating them , I do not even remember how they looked :)

Those cuttings were very easy to root last year, they grew very well, and if you root them now, will have the figs to eat next summer guaranteed!

A very kind offer!

The fig you have is Desert King, not Adriatic!

Herman, I have trees bought from nurseries that are not what they said to be. (a nonlatarulla, a nonpeter's honey).

Here I have a guy who has this tree for over 30 years and said to be Adriatic... others, like yourself believe to be DK.  I really don't know. I tried DK at Kiwibob, and have seen the DK trees...this tree is nothing like any DK I ever saw.
It is a productive tree and grows here, it also made awesome root stock for my grafts. So, I have it for distribuitiion, as I don't need all.  I affirm it to be a very good fig.

Hello my bestie!!! I would like a few. As soon as you send them, I will propagate them. Let me know how much and I will pay you.

thanks,
Dennis

Dennis, you shall have your wish... along with my purple one that I will send all together.

I do not believe it is a DK either, doesn't look like my DK tree and the figs look different.

PM sent. Kind offer indeed :)

Thanks for your generous offer, PM sent.

Very kind of you, Grasa. PM sent.

Whatever it is , looks Delicious. I love light figs.

Would be interesting to have Herman compare both side by side :)

PM sent Grasa, thank you.

Robert,
you certainly have the patience and the know-how to ripen a fig!

To all of you who exchanged PMs about this fig- well, I managed to send out the packages.. the post office lady was not happy with me tieing up the line, so she only took 10 packages. I had to go to 2 other locations to get  them all on the road... you all should receive them by Wed or Thurs.    I washed them with dishsoap. I highly recommend that you do the desinfectation needed to make sure they are not bringing any gnat or other bad creature eggs with them.  Slant cuts are the tops. Flat cuts are bottoms.  I wish you all the best luck and it will be fun to follow the progress of this summer batch.

I still have a few branches to pass on.

Best luck to all.

thanks for all the hard work you did for all of us Grasa. You are an Angel :)

Grasa,
It's a real bummer they gave you such a hard time at the post office that you had to spread things out over 3 locations!  That doesn't reflect very highly on the USPS, but Kudos to you for sticking with it.  Your generosity with your time and cuttings is commendable!!!
Jim
P.S. I wonder if it would have been acceptable to them if you just got back on the end of the line at the same location and just took care of 10 packages at a time.
P.P.S I wonder if the USPS has some formal policy on this, or was somebody just having a bad day?

the post office does not have enough people..and  each package takes a lot of 'weighting, measuring, stamping'... so, it ties the line. that was the reason.  I have several more to go today, but I am going to a different one later in the day. I am keeping them in a bucket of water until such time to wrap and take them there.   I just hope who gets them are able to grow them.   Last night I harvested another loner from a DK plant, and it is totally different than these figs. This fig tree leaves are very soft and thin, almost like cloth. If this is not Adriatic, as some  here believe, hum,  I am curious to find out what it will be discovered .

Grasa,

Thanks for the extra effort it took to us these cuttings.  I received mine today and they are in great condition! PM sent.

It is good to see that some of you already received them...sometimes they make a trip around the globe first.  Best luck to all in rooting them.

Thanks for the huge effort in making this happen Grasa. Again, very kind of you to share. The USPS is losing money as fast as they can, you would think they would welcome the business from a large customer.
