Air layer black Madeira help

I got this little black Madeira about 10 days ago, had a couple ?'s it was kept in a green house for 3 weeks after removed from mother tree, I've had it in shade for 10 days now when can I put in full sun? I give it an hour of sun at the end of day, Also included a pic of the roots, is this good that they are reaching into the water reservoir of the self watering pot, and last ? Should I remove at least one of the figs, thanks so much!

It is too new to dabble with it. Just let it grow for a while mostly in shade and up pot to a larger container during dormancy.
As to the figs, I wouldn't worry about them too much. You could remove them if you wish or just leave them. What you need is to let the plant develop some more roots and adjust itself to the new pot and show some active growth before anything else.

I must add that your pot is too small for full sun, especially on a new plant like yours. Keeping it mostly in shade will reduce the potential of root overheating which might inhibit growth or perhaps kill your new plant.

When ready to up pot without disturbing the rootball, perhaps you could slip the tree out after preparing the new pot put it in and cover gently with soil. This step could be done at anytime, it's just a question of how easily the plant can be removed from the small pot.

Thanks for the reply back, don't know if you'll read this, so it's been in that pot for a little over a month, should I put it in and out of the sun daily? Maybe 3 to for hrs a day or just keep it in the shade the bud on top literally just broke like yesturday you can now see a curled up leaf about to spring out, so that's got to be good, and what size pot would be safe for the eventual full sun? Thanks

For this one I would use the largest SIP at Walmart. This is what you will get in one season. I do not recommend anything less than five gallon for full sun.
This Preto was rooted last year from a cutting around Dec and still sits in part sun for now.
It has over a dozen figs.
Try to put it in a place and minimize moving it.

thanks again Sas, will heed your advice, quick ? 4 u, I'm completely new to this hobby, how do I get cuttings from other members? Like a Preto cutting from you for example? Do I send you money, or do people trade? Just curious cause I would love a Preto cutting, and some others as well.

Great advise from Sas!
Also, I would remove the figs from that young plant so to direct all the energy and focus to growing.
You'll be rewarded with many figs in coming years.

Justin, I would up pot the airlayer you got from me in a week or two.  I don't completely disagree with Sas in that waiting until it goes dormant is the best time, but that airlayer will get root bound pretty quickly in that small pot and it won't grow as well throughout the rest of the season without up potting it.

As far as getting cuttings, most folks won't have any until the fall when they prune.  Many members list their cuttings on eBay, some list them on here, and others will trade with you if you reach out to them via private message.
