air layer help

I did three airlayers on my hardy chicago. I removed two of them last night. Both had enough roots to fill a gal pot. I potted both up and waterd. They looked good all afternoon and even through the night as I have them on the porch under the roof in shade. Now they are droopy. Very droopy. do you think I will lose them. I have sence misted them. The temp today did hit 101 with 82% humidity. I'm hoping that's why the are drooping. I guess after sunset if they perk back up I will know.

Any advice?

how much leaves do they have maybe. Maybe they cant get more water than they are losing. I read that high heat reduces the roots productivity in up take of water.

Bring them in door a few days, let the root grow more.

although it has enough roots, it's stressed after being taken off the mother tree. keep it in shade, mist the leaves as needed. make sure it's well planted in the pot and soil is settled. water it well. might want to cool the container also. but don't over water. if it has full canopy, thin it out a little.

it should perk up within 2-3 weeks in this weather.

If really concerned and heavily leaved, take a few off

I am going to wait till mother goes dormant before taking the third off.

Yes if there are decent amount of leaves in relation to plant start from bottom of plant and cut a few just the leaf , just recently took airlayer from our HC but not a lot of roots as i knew hot weather would arrive and stay .
Plant drooped right away in full shade with a few leaves cutoff , 4 days later it perked up one morning and was then being acclimated to sun now in mostly full sun and doing fine.

Too much stress on new airlayer. Too much heat, being cut, sun ,etc. Keep them cool and shaded for a few days. It will probably shed some leaves. Usually if I have an airlayer that grew too many leaves in relation to the rootball. I clip some leaves off several day prior to cutting the layer off. This gives the remainder of the stem time to fall off and heal before stressing the new plant again. When you cut after the fact it loses lots of moisture though the new cuts in the stems. A good time to cut airlayers off is during a few days of rain or cloudy weather or cooler than normal temps.

By the way, they will survive. Sounds like you have nice rootballs. If you have a cool basement put them in there.

The good news is the next five days they are calling for cooler temps and rain on and off. Guess I should had waited

Even if it completely defoliates, when it stabilizes, it will grow new leaves.

I took this airlayer off about 3 weeks ago. I took 90 percent of the leaves off when I potted up it was started in a half gallon milk jug. Put it in the shade and watered daily.

It looked pretty bad for three weeks and now is breaking buds and starting to grow. Looks like it is going to make it.

The mother tree is suppose to be Celeste.  Directly potted into a 3 gallon pot.

I pulled out a large branch that was in the dirt that had some roots.....I immediately put in a bucket of water for 3 days....then I
put them outside in moist dirt.....all the leaves drooped that day....I then knocked off all the leaves and for about 3 weeks it looked
bad and it looked dead....well it started budding leaves and is starting to look good.......Resurrected from the Abyss...Thank God !!!

When I get home I will remove all leaves. Thanks for the advice. I will keep you all posted

Ok here we are a few days later. The taller layer is about 4 foot. I removed all leaves and even nipped the very top as it was drooped, shrivled, and turning brown. Its just a stick now but seems to be doing a lot better. The smaller not even 3 foot layer I nipped all leaves off up to the top and left the ones just comming out of the bud. Doing a lot better as well.
