I posted a topic yesterday about pruning techniques.  I received some good information on how to try and get some trees into more of a bush form.  If I follow the directions given it appears I might have the opportunity to do some air layers - which is new for me.  I'm in western PA.  Is it too late in the season for me?  I would be able to move them to a greenhouse to finish.  Thanks..Tony

With a greenhouse (or another way to keep the root zone above 55F), I'd say go for it.  The roots will continue to grow, even if the top is dormant during the winter months.  In Texas, and I'm sure other parts of the south. people plant trees in October for this reason.

You still have a month of hot weather left, I think.  Plenty of time to get good roots going, IMO.  You can then wait until dormant for max root production and then pot up and protect for winter.

Until end of august, you should be fine. Feed well and water well the tree - you want her to grow roots and stems .
