Air layering a branch with figs on it

Can you air layer a branch with figs on it?

I have successfully air-layered branch with figs on it. However I cut the air-layered branch from the mother tree after the figs had ripened (most of it).

i air layered a branch with figs on it.. i cut the air layer off once it rooted very nicely.. that was.. about a month ago. the new tree is doing well, but the fig dropped.. not sure if this is normal or i did something wrong.

The negronne I just removed had a good root mass and so far so good.  The terminal leaves are not wilting but maybe I should pinch that off since it's already 5ft tall.  It has six figs on it so I hope they stay on.

Thanks guys.  So start air layer, eat figs, then cut.

I did quite a few of them a couple of years back the figs grew and the roots grew  no problem
