Just curious if anyone else notices differences in different figs in success of airlayers.

my MBVS practically explodes with roots when airlayered but my Sals C has been "cooking" for 2 months with barely any development.

You are right some trees just take off and others just do nothing forever.

Last year, the fastest cuttings to root were Smith... by a long shot.  The slowest to root by air-layer was also Smith... by a long shot.

Just like rooting: some are eager and some are not.

rooting or air layer all depends on the limb itself. As James mentioned some years are better other years are worse.
