Air-layering/grafting figs

@Gene : its great information and you did it So quick...

Just to share the risk that would probably happen on  multilevel airlayer , if  :

1. Your mother stock is not enough nutrition or stress.
2. The tree or stem bark is still too young (green)
3. Your Air layer media is contaminated with pathogen fungus or Bacteria .
4. Then all  good dream would becoming a night mare. ( Pic: Tena Fig)

After checking my pictures I see that I make a mistake on the O'Rourke. The top air layer did have roots starting.

Here is a picture of the lower air layer on the O'Rourke while still on the tree.

A picture of the same air layer with the wrapping off.

The upper air layer.

This is a picture of an air layer on my Cajun Gold. This will be my back up tree. I will grow it in a 30 gallon pot. The bag is about 12 inches tall and the branch is about 1" across. It just about time to take it off the tree.

Fascinating. Thank you all.

Congratulations!

zaitun....

Can you be good enough to update this thread with new information, and possibly add some photos?  I am very curious to learn if your multiple air-layers on the same stem were successfully rooted.

Hope any other members with additional information, and experiences using these methods would let us know their thoughts.

I have used the air-propagator pots with much success...and they are quick and convenient to use.  I wish they would make them in larger sizes for use on heavier branches.  Great to keep in the trunk of your car, and could be put into use very easily when you go fig tree hunting.

Thanks for any new information.
