Alma fig

I just planted a alma fig in-ground. i was wondering if i should dig it back out because i read its not cold hardy enough to be planted. Does anyone have experience with the alma figs?

It drips honey from its eye ; ) lol. I live in Louisiana so cant help tou there. But i do have it

Where you are, almost all figs will need protection. Alma is definitely one of them.

UGH! i need to dig it up?!

This is from the Texas A&M web site-

Alma' is very frost

sensitive, especially as a young plant and is
most adapted when grown no more than 200
miles from the Gulf of Mexico. 'Alma' typically
produces little or no fruit in years following
severe freeze injury.

I have two Alma figs in ground.  One is only a foot tall and I covered it with leaves this winter.  The other is planted close to the east side of my house.  Both made it through winter great.  This was their first winter in ground.  I am in zone 7a.

Dig it up and put an HC in there. :)
