(Almost) all my trees have leaves already

We've hardly had a winter at all this year.  I think twice it got down to 29F.  Never brought anything inside.  Now everything has leaves, except one in a half gallon pot right next to the house and my first in ground LSU tiger that I planted 2 years ago.  Both are dead.

The one in the pot probably just dried out, I didn't water anything over the winter and being next the house, it probably didn't get enough rain water.  I think the others next to the house escaped the posts and dug in their feet.  I'll have to see if i can get them up and repotted.

The in ground LSU Tiger was not looking well toward the end of the summer, so something killed it.  This is the 2nd in ground tree that has died.  They were about 10 feet apart.

I think the ground might have been too wet this time, as I may have an undergound sprinkler leak.  I cut the whole sprinkler system off late last summer as soon as I realized the ground was so wet.

I have one tree (2nd year) in a 20gal tub that has over 40 breba's started on it.  I only got a total of about a dozen figs last year out of 40 trees. Was a very bad year.  Looks like this year is already breaking records!!

Great new James!  Sorry to hear of your losses :(

How about some pictures?

Oh man, my Lsu tiger was the first to leaf out this season, if you need some cuttings I can probably spare a couple for you.

You are ahead of me here in Central Arkansas (z7b). I was just looking everything over carefully today and about half of my fig varieties are not yet budding. But my TX everbearing is looking particularly good and has a bunch of brebas. I am very keen to find out what kind of brebas she will give.

Here in northern california, all my figs have leaves.  I have 3 trees in the ground and about 10 in pots.  The pots came first (probably warmer roots).

same here!

Me to

Same here, James. Birmingham was so mild my potted Atreano (pic) stayed outdoors all winter and now has leaves and figs pushing on nearly every branch - just covered it with a sheet of painters plastic a couple of nights back in January.  First time I've ever had figs pushing this early.  Almost everything has leafed (HC and MsvB being the last to open). Only thing still dormant are two small Valle Negra and BourjasotteNoire that were in the semi-heated shop with most others. I don't think they're dead, but they having pushed buds yet. Hope they wake up soon - those are two of the longshot varieties I was looking forward to trialing here.

I put some big pots upstairs where it is cold, but apparently not cold enough. They too are leafed out, with brebas. Average March high here is 47F. It has bee in the mid to high 50s almost all month.
