Almost Eden's Calvert

Last year, my buddy Jon had some Calvert's listed on his website.  I bought a couple of them.  This year for a very small plant, they really are putting out a lot of figs!  Below are 2 small plants that are not even thicker than a pencil and not even 12 inches tall and the tree has at least 5 figs on it!  However, to me, this fig looks exactly like Aubique Petite!  I have 3 APs and this fig has leaf patterns and all just like it!

I got these figs because Jon said it was a black medium size fig and I was curious.  Does anyone else has this fig?  Here are a few pics I took before the snake bite.

I've never heard of them, but am always interested in new varieties.  I will have to try to get a picture of my 2 year old aubique petite up here, its really looking great.

I have a couple small calvert plants that have quite a few figs for its size. I believe they are a white fig though very similar to verte or JH Adriatic

edit...   looking at Almost Eden's site it appears they have acknowledged that.

"The fig that we received as Calvert obviously is not. Our Calvert figs are small to medium sized rounded to pear shaped figs with a dark reddish-brown skin, amber flesh, and dark purplish-red pulp. According to Condit, Calvert is the same as Verte and so it should be a dark green to green fig with dark strawberry pulp."

I'm pretty sure it's the same as Aubique Petite. Which is one amazing tasting fig.

I'm glad the bite is healing.  You might want to let the company know so they can get the word out.

Yeah, I know Jon, the owner of Almost Eden Plants.   I haven't talked to him in a while.  I will call him tomorrow and let him know.  I was the one who call him about selling his O'rourkes as Improved Celeste years ago!  But he's one of the good guys!
