Am I doing this right?

OK......5 days ago I started my first ever fig cuttings in root riot plugs, I only started 3 cuttings just to see how I do. The first couple of days I had them on my back porch during the day cause the weather was lovely, I mist them with collected rain water every 2 days, there were definite humidity droplets on the dome for the first couple of days but these last 2 days since the weather turned nasty they've been living inside in a 72-75 F room under one of those supposed natural daylight lamps and I don't see any evidence of humidity on the dome anymore. I remove the dome every day for about an hour to ler the air circulate around them. They look healthy, new buds are swelling, but of course no root development just yet. I'm just perplexed by the lack of humidity droplets, and wondering if everything is going as it should. Please advise............:o)

I mist the inside of my dome everyday otherwise it gets the same as yours. I don't mist the cuttings.

Just a suggestion, but if you want to seriously raise the humidity level inside the humidity chamber, then fill all the spaces in the tray with cubes and keep them moist, even though they don't have cuttings in them yet...this will also give you a head start when you receive your next cuttings...just prep them, and pop them in the cubes.

I know it's been a while, had a busy week, but I did read your much appreciated responses and followed your advice :o) . So far I don't see any roots but it's only been 12 days. The problem I seem to be having now is the slight appearance of mold. I've been gently wiping the cuttings each time I spot any fuzzy tell tale signs of mold. I've been airing out the tray for about an hour every day, it's like I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. I know they need the humidity for root development, but it's so annoying to see that mold. I hope my little charges will be OK, I'm doing my best to keep them happy. Thanks again :o)

I used Listerine on some of my cuttings with repeated mold issue.  It seemed to work better than the other things I tried which were diluted bleach and hydrogen peroxide.   I'm no expert on this and nothing scientific to back it up.  It just worked for me.

Looks like every thing is good. I have cutting that have be in  clear cup that look the same as yours with no roots. Some are just getting roots the last few days. I have one that has had roots for weeks now. Not sure why this happens. May be night temps or something. This is also my first year with cuttings. Lots to learn for sure. Good luck and good things come to those who wait.
