America - The Land Of the Free?

Is America really the land of the free?!?

Here is some more old concrete evidence of our USA big gov. spying on us private citizens
in violation of our 4th amendment constitution.
I saw it first on yesterday's NYT front page newspaper; tittle:
"Burglars Who Took On F.B.I. Abandon Shadows".

I do have some spare 'tea-bags' in the kitchen - should I just flush them down the toilet as waste?

Our Constitution has been used as the toilet paper by politicians for years.  Our government can, and does, whatever it wants, and with impunity.  "Checks and Balances" is just an abstract concept.  One just has to look around to see the latest wreckage, i.e. 'ObamaCare'....

It's ALL part of the plan.

Freedom is just another word...sung Janis a long time ago!

if you ever have dealt with family law with regards to parental rights... ah.. don't get me started... I just want to go home and take all my figs with me.

Yes, we are free.  Up to the length of the leash we're kept on.

NYT:

Cointelpro ...

... Among the grim litany of revelations was a blackmail letter F.B.I.
agents had sent to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. threatening to
expose his extramarital affairs if he did not commit suicide....

... not just spying ... the intend ... was to destroy lives and ruin reputations ....

A DEA agent stops at a ranch in Texas and talks with an old rancher.
He tells the rancher, “I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.” The rancher points and says, “Okay, but do not go in that field over there.”

The DEA agent verbally explodes: “Mister, I have the authority of the federal government behind me.” Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the rancher. “See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish … on any land. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?”

The rancher nods politely, apologizes and goes about his chores.
A short time later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the DEA agent running for his life while being chased by the rancher’s prize bull.

With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer, and it seems likely that he’ll get “horned” before he reaches safety. The officer is clearly terrified. The rancher throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs:

“Your badge! Show him your BADGE!”

A little humor,

A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas and talked with an old rancher. He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."

The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....", as he pointed out the location.

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, "Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!"

Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher.

"See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land!! No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?!!"

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull.

With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs.....

"Your badge, show him your BADGE.........!!"

Love it. LoL

Great story that thing is a MONSTER!!

too funny rafed

good one... lol

Yes, sometimes U.S. authorities take on more than they can handle. :)

Believe it or not...this is the transcript of an actual radio conversation between a US naval ship and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995. The Radio conversation was released by the Chief of Naval Operations on Oct. 10, 1995.

US Ship: Please divert your course 0.5 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

CND reply: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

US Ship: This is the Captain of a US Navy Ship. I say again, divert your course.

CND reply: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course!

US Ship: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS CORAL SEA*, WE ARE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE US NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW!!

CND reply: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

It's supposedly really just a joke, but I have my doubts! ;)  http://www.navy.mil/navydata/nav_legacy.asp?id=174

I was going to post about how any forum such as this surely hosts users with a wide array of political philosophies, even those that are obviously wrong (everyone that doesn't agree with me), and its amazing how many pundits are rationalizing the actions of the NSA as unfortunate but neccessary and appropriate.

Dwelling on those philosophical differences amongst our members rather than our shared interest in figs can only result in hard feelings.

"No politics, no religion" is a good policy for this type of commmunity.

Then you go and tell those jokes and make me laugh.  Really.

So disregard, and carry on.

Geaux Liberty

When small independent farmers have their pants sued off them by the likes of Monsanto, when naturopaths, organic food sellers, country market stalls, etc. have their premises and stock trashed by Govt. agents, you know it's game over as far as any real liberty is concerned. You might as well be living in a police state. The only real difference is that this police state acts as the enforcement arm of the multinational corporations - that's it.
