Anatomy of a Sucker (Atreano)

Hi All,

So I was digging up an Atreano tree today.  It had two trunks, but I only remember planting one cutting in the hole.  I thought it had branched off the main trunk under ground, but as I started getting the dirt removed, I found the second trunk was a sucker off one of the main roots.

Unfortunately, I tore the base.  This is what it looked like when I separated the two and cleaned up the roots a bit so they would fit into containers.

And finally, potted up and into a clear tote.

If they grow, these will belong to TonyCM and Navillus.

I got faith in your operating skills! Both patients should make a full recovery. Let me know when they are discharged. ;)
Thank you Dr. James!

Nice work James, and good clear pics...thanks for sharing.

Looks excellent James!

Yup they sure can take a beating.
You can see were the 2nd piece was originally attached where i made the circle as the wood looks white and ripped from the main trunk .

Martin,

I managed to tear that when I was pulling it from the ground.  I thought I had cut all the roots, but the on pointing to 10:30 was still attached.  I think I cleaned it up pretty well.  Had the tree still been dormant, I would have pruned a bit harder.

James, i'm just curious. Was the top part of the tree frosted or are you rooting more of them? I remembered that you told me in your area you get a lot of dieback due to the big fluctuation in temperatures. The wood looks different in color above the leaves in the first pic. Didn't know if the top was dead or if it was just the lighting in the pic.

Tony,

The tops had died back.

i heard some salix jeuice can help.
aspirin maybe?>

James,

That means, you'll be growing more than one Great tasting fig.
