And then there were two

Fig season is winding down......only have two figs left to ripen.  Going to be a long cold snowy winter..well maybe not snowy.

...and maybe not cold, or dark or whatever you lower latitude, subtropical residing folks pretend you suffer from in those horrifying days between December 15ish and January 15ish. Hold tight to your loved ones during these trying times, Wills.

What fig is that, btw? It's purty.

Listen here Neil....it is 71 today and I had to wear long pants......it is cold i'm telling you.    That is my favorite fig of 2013......Salem Dark.  Your post does remind me I need to write you an email.

Ah Wills, try living in the Siberia of Florida, Tallahassee. 68 measly degrees today! That's a whole 3 less than you had to endure, if my math is correct. So, if there is any sympathy to be had, it should be directed up this way. Brrrrrr!

I'm trying to find a way to offer sympathy....but it's not happening.  ;)

Really ?
temps hear have not gone above  32 for a solid week along with several nights below zero kinda early and
its not even winter yet.
Snow starting again late this eve.

71 in our area is short pants and sandals.

Wills C....

A big   B O O - H O O   from the frozen Brrrronx !

What a horrible situation to be in Wills....I feel so sorry that you might have to do something drastic like....I don't know....maybe, wear a long-sleeve shirt!  And while your figs are singing their swan-song for this season, I'm sitting in my living-room wearing blankets around my legs.  And judging by my stratospheric, gas/electric bills, it looks like once again, that I will be sending some Con-Ed "suits" to Florida, on a vacation, to enjoy the sunshine, and the balmy breezes wafting through the Palmettos.....and, of course, the LIVE OAKS.

I hope you can survive the plunging temps down to 71 degrees.  Good luck.

Frank, with the frozen..... ahhh, never mind.

Very well said Bronx.

And to make matters even worse I saw a freaking robin yesterday.  While they may be a sign of spring for you folks they are a sign here that the cold is coming and I am always thankful when they head north.

Robins are getting away from Connecticut!
Monday's low on the forecast is 1, as in uno.

wills, what sort of fig is that on your tree? i still have few in the garage. need to take them off since they never ripen properly in the garage.

-4°F here right now outside my house here in Maine.  Inside I'm grateful that it's 65.  Last time I was in Florida in the winter I was walking around with a tee shirt on while the guy on the radio was saying you'd better grab a jacket because it's 70 out????  Funny what we get used to.

Pete,

It is Salem Dark.

If you are in Siberia then this must be East Siberia. It's been dark for a couple hours now and it is 68 degrees. Have to fire up the heater and grab some blankets!

Darkman speaking of blankets.
