And this is why I can't own nice things...

A few weeks ago I received a tree from eBay and two from Trees of Joy (thank you Bass!), and promptly potted them in self-watering containers. I kept them shaded on my front porch for the first week, and they seemed to recover from shipping and re-potting just fine. It's been raining like crazy here in Atlanta, so I graduated them to my driveway, where they could easily be pulled under the carport during storms. At first, I had them on my husband's side of the driveway and just moved them around the time he would be coming home, but since I haven't had to drive much recently I decided to be lazy and positioned them behind my car instead. So you can imagine my horror yesterday when I was running late to meet a friend and heard the "crunch" after starting to back out of my carport... Fortunately, only the eBay one was fully ejected from its container, and none came in direct contact with my vehicle. So now they get the chance to spend time in my front porch recovery ward again. Thank goodness they are resilient plants!

I  have taken out bicycles and skateboards, but not yet a fig tree.

had 3 Niagara Black.. i kept one, traded one.. and the other one.. well.. i kept knocking it off everytime i was watering the figs. after about 5th time i knocked it off the shelf, i threw it away. it wasn't meant to be.

Have not run over figs plants yet but have knocked over the large recylcler bin at end of driveway what a mess that makes.

Learned my lesson to label each cutting...

After knocking a box full of cuttings and getting them all mixed up.
Thank goodness there was only two types of cuttings in the box at the time.

oh.. i cringed at the "crunch"..

Oh, believe me, I cringed and cursed. Fortunately, the "crunch" was the sound of one of the containers getting stuck under my car.

Don't worry it will bounce back and next year it will be tall enough to see in the rearview.

At least the plants were not damaged.  They will be fine after a few days in the hospital ward.

goss
