Now I feel REALLY GOOD about the price I paid for mine.

I gave one away last week.

Hi Mark! Hope you are well, and your family.

Hay. That was me. I meant to bid 76.27 but left the decimal out so it was my mistake so no one else could be the high bidder. Guess who won. It is going to be put back up. Turns out he is a really good person to do business with. I have bought a lot from him.

Scary stuff Hershell!  There doesn't seem to be any way to pull back your max bid, does there?  You'd think they'd let you do that up to your highest current bid to avoid this kind of thing.  I wonder if the second highest bid was also an error....because dang!

I notified him immediately and he told others what happened but some kept bidding. He said the only fair way was to put it back up. I agreed to pay for it a 233 but after that it was out of my league. Yes there needs to be a way to reduce your bid and stay in the lead.

Sorry to inform everyone that this Vasilika Sika did not sell $699.00. Their is no e-bay record. The e-bay auction was voided by the seller, me. Someone accidently forgot to put a decimal in the bid. To make it fair to all bidders the winning bid was canceled, no second chance offers were submitted, and the beautiful plant is now relisted. This is my first posting here on f4f, although I have been registered for some time. Hope to have many more.

I am almost speechless. I understand it is a nice fig,  I understand the decimal thing, but there had to be a backup bidder. I have never sold a plant yet,If they read this forum Please PM me. In fact post on this forum what you are willing to pay and I am sure your inbox will be full

I thought I really wanted it. It really looks like a great plant but I understand there might be others with the same name. I was looking at the leaves not the fruit. Someone here willing to educate me here? And darn it I still want it. Thanks HooRay?

Looking for Cuttings...LOL    Yea, there should be a way to correct and error on a bid. Hope it goes for a good price.

But if they knew about this forum they wouldn't be paying insane prices!

Lol.

no fig tree that age is worth that much money!

Multiple figs go by the name Vasilika Sika and this one appears to be the one related to Dalmatie.  I actually didn't think it was that rare so the ebay value is really surprising to me.

Some buyers will pay "whatever" for whatever reasons, W.C. Fields and P.T. Barnum provided a famous quote for this kind of insanity. I plan on a reasonable distribution of cuttings and plants in a year or two at insane prices in the opposite direction. We just have to be patient and SANE or be a lifetime member of Figaholics.... the membership fee can be obtained on ebay to the highest bidder.

Imagine how I felt when it kept climbing. I really feel bad that my bid caused that much of a problem. Patient and Sane. We are talking about figs here and I am way behind. I have already bought the insanity degree on eBay. But I will try to be patient one more time if things will just hurry up.

Sound like the guy who prayed for patients and said and God I need it right now.

That's allot of money.

I always say...It's not seller's responsibility but buyer's to ID a fig variety.

Yes buyer beware, however a seller has a responsibility to not misrepresent the items being sold

You can contact Ebay and they will remove your bid if you make a mistake. Then  you have to reenter the bidding process, but that is not a big deal

in eBay you can retract a bid. just need to do your research.
Mark

Retracting a bid on eBay is easy:

Thank you Greg!  I figure it will never happen to me, so it probably will.  Good to know that you can immediately re-enter the amount to fix that.

Thanks Greg. I could have have used that info.
