I've been having a good year, so I used some extra figs for a pizza. I used a fig I've dubbed Fuda Dark Unk. A very good all around fig. They weren't as dark as they were a couple weeks ago.
The pizza had arugula, prosciutto, onions, and mozzarella. This was the best fig pizza my wife has made to date.

    Is that Fuda, or Food--Duh? Really,  what is the source of the name? Pizza looks great. Maybe focaccia, since it has no tomato sauce.

 I got my tree from a couple from a town called Gioiosa Ionica. It's in Reggio Calabria. I can't say for sure the tree is from there.
Yes their last name is Fuda.

Wow that does look fantastic !! Love the rustic look of it!! My little Fuda has put on a lot of growth . So what was the taste of the fresh fig like ?  Can't wait for fruit next year!

Pattee, I am bad at describing figs but I'd say that it has a raspberry/strawberry taste to it. I know you said your husband likes his figs sweet. He should like this one.

Bugs, Let me know if you want a start from this one. It is a very fast grower.

The bad thing is the bees and ants like this fig for some reason.

I'm guessing the bees and ants are after "the sweet" . The organza bags kept them out of all the figs I got this summer. They worked great.

   Gioioso means joyful. Ionica is a reference to the Ionian sea. The town is way down on the sole of the boot. This fig brings joy.
