Another Locally Found Fig (NJ)

This fig tree is in a (commericial) site that I visit every 2-3 months to buy
some stuff. The owner has no clue what it is, it came with the property.
The mother tree is (winter) UNproteced; of an upright growth,
~7-8' (trimmed) height, ~5-6' width and ~3-4" base trunk diameter.

I first got a few cuttings in fall 2009 - with a zero rooting succes.
Some pics (2009) attached.

Tried again in fall 2010 with a better success - at least one rooted
(possibly 2 more are very promising); a bad-rooter-fig for me...
I thought that I took more pics then, but I now could not find them (yet).

What you fig experts think?

Brown turkey?

Gorgi, I don't think that tree is Brown Turkey.  It might be Sal's.  If they were BT, they would have rooted.  Brown Turkey fig cuttings will root in gasoline.  Gorgi, I think you found a winner.  Great find.

Nice looking fig George.

Hi Gorgi.  Great find, cold hardy and very interesting looking.

How is the taste?

Best wishes.

Dennis,

Me too originally thought that it is some fig of a 'Mt. Etna',
Sicily origin  (e.g., HC /Sal).

John,
I did eat a few figs, all I can say that I did not taste anything special,
good or bad stuff;  so to be safe, I rate it as an average good eating fig...

George, Do you think these photos could be the same variety ?

They are from an inground tree in Staten Island,
50+ years old. no protection,
originally brought as a cutting from Italy.
Picture of the figs were taken late in the season
and did not find a properly ripe one on the tree

Jack,
Hard to tell.

Maybe it is a relative of Sal(C); just like as my GM#17 may be too:

George,

 Thank you for the response.
Looked at your link,
I think the one in SI is the same as your GM 17

Jack
