Another unknown, small black fig

My Plant from Jason, does not show any Fig mosaic virus on leaves as ,you can see the plant, but it is not growing, like other cultivars,so it is slow in growing up.
I do not use and fertiliser, because it make it ,not hardy if i do.
Better small and live next Spring, than large now and dead,by next April.

Thanks Pete, that is what I was thinking the method would be.

Here are some pictures of mine.

This is from Jason as well. One and the same as Vasiles.
It was started in the basement along with the other cuttings and was looking perfect. No sign of FMV at all. But things took a turn when I took it outside. I had another one just as perfect and I gave that away to another friend.

rafed, that looks very similar to my Ischia Black UCD.

Is it just me or does this fig Jason found look like negretta?

Quick, shut off your PMs!

Mine is still small but it produced one beautiful ripe fruit.

My fuzzy tailed tree climbing beady eyed fig stealing pet squirrel got to it first!

Speaking of Jason,
He hasn't been around. Anyone hear from him?

one of very generous forum members provided number of cuttings on this fig last yr. i don't know what happened, but i lost them all. currently growing another Unk Ischia Blk. still have USDA/UCD Ischia Blk to compare later.

That pet squirrel needs to be skinned stewed and eaten.

I heard he got all sucked into parenthood, still has most of his figs, although he's is battling through an exceptionally cold winter.  He expects to be back around again when the littlest one is up, walking and talking, which is hopefully this year.

Seriously, though... The garage has a number of 6'-8' tall trees laid down sideways through it this year.  Several stacked along the walls.  It's tough to get in and out of the cars and to load the kids in, but that's the price we pay for being fig nuts, right?

You could email like everyone else, Rafed ;)  Miss ya, bud!

Rubbing my eyes is that the real Jason ?

(Oh - and don't expect me to check back in on this thread in the next week or three.  Bob tipped me off that this got bumped, that and the fact my MIL took one of the kids with her tonight is the only reason I popped in.)

If you were really a parent of babies you would have said, "pooped" in.

Good to hear from you Jason,
sent you a couple emails.

talking and walking is just the start. it doesn't stop till they leave to college or get their own place.

Hi Jason, nice to see you again....

my Unk Ischia Black is from jason's tree. the cuttings are showing some stress. on the other hand USDA/UCD Ischia Black is very clean. will post on another thread in some later date.

It's been 2 and 1/2 years ... almost.

Anyone get a ripe fig form this potential FMV-free Black Ischia?

I wasn't gonna be the one who bumped this thread....but since it's already been done :)  I too am curious.  It's a great read, even though it never got a conclusion.  I didn't know it was possible to have suspense and drama over a tiny little fruit.

You've done it now Frank ;) .

I'm still curious about this little fig too. It sure brought a lot of attention to Jason's table back when he first posted about it.

I know Jason is a very busy dad now but maybe one day he'll surprise us all and dump an arm load of cuttings on us. Well, we can dream anyway.

Not really dropping a hint Jason - just having fun. Hope all is well with you & your family.

Maybe Herman2 will give us an update on how his did in 2014.

Hi Fellows:
I had 2 ripe fruits From Jason Black fig,and I got only one to taste and look inside, the other the squirrels got it.
In my opinion,Jason unknown Black is not Ischia Black, but:
It is Negretta.
This is my conclusion i came at after i checked all information and pixies of Negretta.
It matches to a T.
Best Regards

Hey Vasile. That's good to know. Negretta is a good lookin little fig then isn't it.
Thanks for your evaluation.

Nelson,in post 130,was the first to recognize this fig,as Negretta and after growing it and having a few fruits every year including this year,I can ,say i second Nelson,in that ,the fig in this topic is Negretta.

Whatever this one is, it's a winner for us.  Produces 2 good crops of delicious black figs.  Very reliable variety.  Moving up to a 20 gal next season.  :)
