Awesome! Mike was so generous and gave me one even though I'm a beginner; he really boosted my gardening confidence. It's still a baby but it's nice to see from your picture what I can expect :)

It was planted a year ago March and did produce a couple figs last year that were so so at best. Looking forward to these.

Interesting, I am still amazed at what I do not know. I will be putting my pots on mounds of mulch. My in-ground are planted with a mixture of black cane soil, Lee County compost(free), home grown compost and heavy mulch on top. This ( I believe) helps prevent nematodes, at least I have not had problems (yet) where a neighbor plants straight into the sand and has problems. I will be asking for more advice as time goes. Thanks.

The nematodes want hot dry sand so anything we can do to make the soil cooler and moist helps. The thing is there are a few types of bad root knot nematodes and if you happen to be in an area that has the bad strain you will have serious problems.

Nice healthy plant, Wills. Mine is about the same size but will ripen its many figs later than yours because due to die back from a late freeze earlier this year.

Malta Black is an awesome fig, it is vigorous grower even in partial shade my 2nd year (1st year in ground) has over 20 figs. Mine tasted real good last year.
