Any contact to James (GreenFin)???

OK, that is what I thought, thanks.

It's the scion that has to be dormant.  You can graft figs almost any time during the season.

Thank you so much for clarifying. This is my first year grafting, so still lots to learn. :-)

I placed an order last Oct, so I guess I shouldn't feel as disappointed as some folks who placed large orders with this guy over a year ago.

My question is...Has anyone received an order yet?

No...
But the main problem is the lack of communication.
Many of us want to make changes... Some moved house etc..

Anyone hear anything?

I've sent multiple PMs and emails regarding my orders and didn't hear anything. I also have moved since I placed my order in 2015. I'm not even sure how I can relay that information to him when he's not even checking/responding to emails/PMs.

am glad to see there is a new thread on this subject since the other has been locked ... information on what is going on is much appreciated ... i got an email from james in jan. saying most of my order would be ready to ship in late spring, orders not ready would go out in the fall, have been waiting for confirmation that my order is ready to ship via e-mail nothing yet

I even did a test communication about putting in a new order. He isn't even replying to those.

I'm glad to see a new thread started too. I am waiting to hear that James has actually come through with ANY orders since last year?

I heard from my credit card company "We have contacted Greenfin about your dispute, we have not heard back.  They have 45 days to respond." The only defense James would have would be to show he shipped the order I placed last October.

Hate to say it, but I'm guessing all of his supporters are in for a big let down. He's probably on some beach in Costa Rica livin' the good life off of everybody elses money.

Hi,

I placed and order for $396 on July 4, 2016 from this grower and was told it would ship in March.  I have emailed him several times and not heard anything.  I'm quite upset as I placed this order on July 4, 2016 and it's past the 180 days to dispute the charge and really would just like a refund at this point. Let down is an understatement :(  Ripped off would be more accurate.

I really don't like saying this on a public forum. But there are much more likely possibilities than outright fraud. For instance a medical issue like depression. The whole project fits the profile of manic/depressive disorder, a very serious affliction. If he really has 5,000 customers think how many plants that is when you've never done it before. Not an excuse but do you really wish that on anyone.

James got overwhelmed with orders because the plants were too cheap. That dynamic involves buyers just as much as a seller. Buying penny stocks usually ends badly as well. Just saying it's not all on the seller.

Go to Ebay. I bid $300 on a fig plant last night and lost out by $88. Can you really expect that from anyone for ~$15, James price on a similar item?

Hi,
I agree that there may be other issues. But as a business owner he has taken a person's money. If these customers contact him about the product they paid for, it's important for Jim to reply. And if for whatever reason he can't provide the product, issue a refund.

I just checked out his website and he is taking orders for cuttings for Fall 2017 while still having not delivered orders placed last year. http://www.figcuttings.com/p/custom-fig-tree-orders.html?m=1

This site has a contact phone number for Greenfin Gardens

I'm still amazed that people will do mental gymnastics in order to somehow protect James and blame the buyers. No blame whatsoever can be placed on them.

Steve, Steve, Steve......REALLY?

It is the act, not the motivating factors.

There should be enough sympathy to go around for James and his many buyers in this sad and sorry situation. Clearly something is not right here with pictures of so many rooted trees and no one coming forward that they have received shipment. Steve's theory is as valid as any others. Unfortunately the only one who knows for sure is James and he is not communicating.

For those ready to jump down my throat...I am neither excusing nor condemning James. Just hope he digs himself out of this hole, for himself and his buyers.

I filed a dispute with Paypal and they refunded both of my transactions.  James never contacted them within the required timeframe.  I talked with a Paypal representative and he indicated that many people do not contact them after the 180 days.  He said that even if it is past the 180 days they can take the information and if they see a pattern of abuse they can lock his Paypal account.  So if you have concerns and are past the 180 days, please contact Paypal and let them know.

Thank you for sharing this Brad. I will try emailing PayPal. The PayPal resolution center would not let me file a complaint since it's been too long. But I will email PayPal and see if they can help.

Sympathy for James? - Madam, you have a warped sense of right and wrong!  But I totally respect the right of you expressing your opinion, no matter how misguided it may be in my opinion.

Pay Pal could not help me either. My credit card company has a similar policy and a time frame that allows their customers to file a complaint. But, my CC company has a caveat, the vendor promised the product at a later date which never happened. That resets the clock, allowing them to move forward with a dispute. For TammRose your order was promised in March, and it did not arrive. It has been less than 90 days since your order was supposed to arrive, therefore your CC company should allow you to file a complaint to dispute your transaction.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much!!! You are 100% correct. Discover card is now helping with this.

Somebody should send his local news station a letter explaining the details.
Maybe they would like to know his story.

Doug

Given that the farm is at a published address, I'm surprised nobody just went over to talk to him. Surely there must be a way for a meet and greet.

@livetaswim06 - since I am closer than you (though still not close) I have considered it just to see with my eyes what is going on and not rely on all the supposition. Just am having difficulty justifying the time and dollars to satisfy my curiosity. More free time and more discretionary income and I know I would. Road Trip!

@dkirtexas - thank you for your left handed respect for my opinion.

I would love to make the road trip and just take what's mine. I've always wanted to go to Kansas now I'm starting to have a reason
