I have sent 2 separate email to him last month, no respond. I don't know. I will just keep waiting..

But for your case, as mentioned in other thread, when your order is ready he will send you notification email before shipping.

In the email James sent folks that he planned to ship a couple weeks ago. He asked if shipping address was still same and had you verify.  You should have the opportunity to change address

Not many got an email yet,  but if he does as he said, he will email prior to shipping.  It should be roughly in order that orders were placed assuming cultivars you ordered are ready. I have no idea which of my trees are set to ship.

Here is the text of email, but then he had another delay and the ship did not happen.

Hello fellow fig collectors :)

If you are receiving this email, then fig trees are ready to be shipped to you this week!  In order to help delivery go smoothly, please respond with the following answers:

1) Is this a good time to ship to you?  (we need to make sure your weather is warm enough, that you won't be gone on vacation, etc)

2) What is your current shipping address?  (we need to make sure that the address on file is current and correct)

Thank you all for your patience on this propagation project!

Best regards,
James/GreenFin

With 38k views on the subject, which does not include the number of orders through his site that are from people that do not come to f4f, I would imagine his inbox s a nightmare.

I ordered when he first posted about a year ago, no email...but I'm not worried about it. I don't think that he went through all that trouble setting up shop to bail on me. He is just learning how to do things and got in over his head a little, but he is a good guy. He is obviously working hard and I believe he will do the right thing.

I remember I bought cuttings from him and then ordered trees. Cuttings came perfectly and well labeled. I had some improved Celestes cuttings fail, and asked to buy some more. He said don't worry about it and sent me some for free. That is a good guy.

I too ordered cuttings for this spring. Was hoping to graft some onto my existing fig trees before they wake up. We are a bit warmer here in AZ and all my fig trees have already woken up and leafed out. Hopefully I can get the cuttings and root them instead. It is a bit worrisome when a business doesn't answer emails. But I am gonna trust the previous comments to just wait.

I think we all knew it would be a risk ordering, with so many orders coming at such a low price, and him just getting started, enthusiasm from both sides took over. Not too many were stomping there feet and complaining about the price being 'too low'. In the back of my mind I knew there would be issues and I think that if we were all honest with ourselves we knew it when ordering and went ahead anyway, rushing to check off varieties before anyone else did to get our orders first. I'm sure he is up to his eyeballs trying to get this thing going. He has too much invested financially mentally and emotionally to perpetrate anything shady. Does that make it right? No. Does it make it forgivable? Yes.  I'm sure if he read and answered all his emails someone would have to follow him around for suicide watch. I'm sure he's very depressed as any of us would be.  I figure when things warm up, and the buds really start popping in early summer the ball will get rolling. I think grace is in order, alot of grace, over the top grace- why? "For the measure we use, it will be measured unto us".  If we want to be proactive, lets pray, and for the non-religious, send out good thoughts for James and his new fig enterprise.

I received a response at the end of January that indicated he would be shipping late March early April.  However, I sent 2 prior emails before he responded to the 3rd.  I sent one March 11 wondering whether he will be able to ship during the timeframe he told me and did not get a response.  I sent one today offering to pick my order up since I live in the general area.  We will see if I get a response.  I think he is probably flooded with emails but it is not a good business practice to not answer emails.  I wish him the best of luck and I personally think he will eventually deliver, so I will wait.

I agree with all that has been said, good and bad. I knew what I was getting myself into when I placed two LARGE orders last year and paid for them up front. With that being said, I have emailed him several times also (and not one after the other, but several months in between) and have not heard from him. I agree that the least he could do would be to answer emails from those who have placed orders but I know that he is over his head and so I wait. I hope I don't have to wait too long - it is super hot here in Texas and I don't want my cuttings to dry up before I attempt to root them. I patiently wait:(

When you say that you knew what you were getting into, you expected a nearly two year delay? With little to nothing in regards to communication? I hope all works out for you, but looking at the comments, most did not anticipate this circus.

I have stone fruit, and you wait till they leaf out to graft. I want to graft figs this spring too, and have been waiting for my figs to wake up. I can do it when dormant? Would it not be better to do when bark is slipping?

Drew, the sap has to be flowing, before you can graft figs, or anything else for that matter.
It's the scion that has to be dormant.  You can graft figs almost any time during the season.

Thank you so much for clarifying. This is my first year grafting, so still lots to learn. :-)

I placed an order last Oct, so I guess I shouldn't feel as disappointed as some folks who placed large orders with this guy over a year ago.

My question is...Has anyone received an order yet?

No...
But the main problem is the lack of communication.
Many of us want to make changes... Some moved house etc..

I've sent multiple PMs and emails regarding my orders and didn't hear anything. I also have moved since I placed my order in 2015. I'm not even sure how I can relay that information to him when he's not even checking/responding to emails/PMs.

I'm glad to see a new thread started too. I am waiting to hear that James has actually come through with ANY orders since last year?

I heard from my credit card company "We have contacted Greenfin about your dispute, we have not heard back.  They have 45 days to respond." The only defense James would have would be to show he shipped the order I placed last October.

Hate to say it, but I'm guessing all of his supporters are in for a big let down. He's probably on some beach in Costa Rica livin' the good life off of everybody elses money.

Hi,

I placed and order for $396 on July 4, 2016 from this grower and was told it would ship in March.  I have emailed him several times and not heard anything.  I'm quite upset as I placed this order on July 4, 2016 and it's past the 180 days to dispute the charge and really would just like a refund at this point. Let down is an understatement :(  Ripped off would be more accurate.

I really don't like saying this on a public forum. But there are much more likely possibilities than outright fraud. For instance a medical issue like depression. The whole project fits the profile of manic/depressive disorder, a very serious affliction. If he really has 5,000 customers think how many plants that is when you've never done it before. Not an excuse but do you really wish that on anyone.

James got overwhelmed with orders because the plants were too cheap. That dynamic involves buyers just as much as a seller. Buying penny stocks usually ends badly as well. Just saying it's not all on the seller.

Go to Ebay. I bid $300 on a fig plant last night and lost out by $88. Can you really expect that from anyone for ~$15, James price on a similar item?

Hi,
I agree that there may be other issues. But as a business owner he has taken a person's money. If these customers contact him about the product they paid for, it's important for Jim to reply. And if for whatever reason he can't provide the product, issue a refund.

I just checked out his website and he is taking orders for cuttings for Fall 2017 while still having not delivered orders placed last year. http://www.figcuttings.com/p/custom-fig-tree-orders.html?m=1

This site has a contact phone number for Greenfin Gardens

I'm still amazed that people will do mental gymnastics in order to somehow protect James and blame the buyers. No blame whatsoever can be placed on them.

There should be enough sympathy to go around for James and his many buyers in this sad and sorry situation. Clearly something is not right here with pictures of so many rooted trees and no one coming forward that they have received shipment. Steve's theory is as valid as any others. Unfortunately the only one who knows for sure is James and he is not communicating.

For those ready to jump down my throat...I am neither excusing nor condemning James. Just hope he digs himself out of this hole, for himself and his buyers.

I filed a dispute with Paypal and they refunded both of my transactions.  James never contacted them within the required timeframe.  I talked with a Paypal representative and he indicated that many people do not contact them after the 180 days.  He said that even if it is past the 180 days they can take the information and if they see a pattern of abuse they can lock his Paypal account.  So if you have concerns and are past the 180 days, please contact Paypal and let them know.

Pay Pal could not help me either. My credit card company has a similar policy and a time frame that allows their customers to file a complaint. But, my CC company has a caveat, the vendor promised the product at a later date which never happened. That resets the clock, allowing them to move forward with a dispute. For TammRose your order was promised in March, and it did not arrive. It has been less than 90 days since your order was supposed to arrive, therefore your CC company should allow you to file a complaint to dispute your transaction.

Best of luck!

@livetaswim06 - since I am closer than you (though still not close) I have considered it just to see with my eyes what is going on and not rely on all the supposition. Just am having difficulty justifying the time and dollars to satisfy my curiosity. More free time and more discretionary income and I know I would. Road Trip!
