Any cuttings for a newbie?

Hello! I am relatively new to the 'fig addiction' problem. I have a white kadota fig in the backyard now but I would love to propogate other fig trees. I live in the Southwest (Gilbert, Arizona). I was wondering if anyone maybe willing to trade or donate some cuttings to help me along! I would also be happy to pay for shipping, etc.! Many thanks from a newcomer!

Welcome.  You may take some flack for asking for handouts with your first post ;) , but offering shipping is a smart way to do it!  It never hurts to ask, and I'm willing to bet someone will hook you up.  If not, lots of folks sell cuttings for cheap, and many sellers have a knack for including some extra varieties, especially if they know you're new.  Lots of good folks on the forums.

In the meantime, do we have a name to go by?  I'm Brett, and I've been at it for a few years now myself.  You're spot on about it being addictive, but you're lucky...out in AZ, you can grow most things in ground.  Good luck!

Hi Brett!

Good to meet you. My name is Chris. Thanks for the feedback. I bought a few cuttings off eBay (Janice Kadota and Texas Everbearing) however some of the prices people are charging for a couple cuttings are borderline crazy! Good to be part of a group. I would even be willing to pay for a Texas Blue Giant. Many thanks!

welcome, people here are wonderful and in time you will have an opportunity. When my cuttings get to the point I can offer, I will.

enjoy!

Did you see the $7 fig tree post? You can get trees as little as $10 after shipping.

Lol. IF you want play you have to pay :)

Hi Chris.  Jodi here in Camp Verde.  I know of so many great old fig trees in the Phoenix area.  Seems to be a great home for figs.  I am living in the Verde Valley now and it is a little more of a challenge with the cold nights in the teens.  And I'm still happily figging.  Send me a PM if you would like some of the Brown Turkey I posted in "Daisy's 'Cornilio' Brown Turkey".  It is an amazing vigorous tree.  Happy figging, Jodi

I can send you lots of cuttings for shipping, a nice white fig w red pulp, pm me if interested.

Hi Chris, check out the link below. This is a really good buy for so many different varieties. $7 p piece. Is there any verity in particular that you are looking for?

Welcome, Chris!! Hey, this is a great forum and you can be sure there are many generous people here. The link posted by FicoParadiso is a good one to take advantage of. I am a newbie here also but will be happy to share cuttings when my trees grow to pruning stage in a couple of years. I have had some nice, generous cuttings sent my way. Some for postage and some for a fair price. Hang in there!

FYI, the small plants from Hirt's are pretty good--I wouldn't try to get anything fancy from there, I believe some people have had some labeling issues with online nurseries, but for about $10 you can get a tiny rooted cutting that will give you a bit of a headstart.  I got an Olympian from then, and it's doing great.

I live in Mesa, AZ. I have received trees from Frozen Joe and Centurion. I just trimmed my Panache Tiger Fig and have 3 other trees to get to. Send me an email with your info. You can come to my place and take as many cuttings as you want.
