Hi figs180,
They almost all are good.
But we all have our own taste buds and our preferences. We all have our own climate that will have an heavy influence on the ripening and taste of the fruits.
So make the test for yourself and don't let others influence you in not getting this or that. I would suggest you try first figs that ripen quickly and are cold hardy.
As for cold hardy cultivars, there are lots of posts on the forum, but here goes a small list :
Brownturkey, hardy chicago and mount etna types related , celeste , Dalmatie, ronde de bordeaux, Pastiliere , Longue d'aout, Brunswick,"Goutte d'or" and any figtrees that is already growing well and fruiting well in your neighborhood.
On the fun side, but not necessarily the most adapted to our Zones 7 : Panache and Ice crystal .
Did you check in local nurseries at your place to see what is available ? My targets are trees under 15$ . I don't buy them too big as they would cost more, and be stunted from growing in a too small container.
Sometimes nurseries will sell some cheap trees, worth the try . Rooting cuttings is fun, but it will take you more time to get your first fruit ...
Are planning to grow in ground or potted ? With greenhouse ? With winterprotections ?
Good luck !
