Seems quiet on this discovery. Is this variant in the Washinghton retail market.

Raintree Nursery had them earlier. Still a limited supply. Trees were pretty small. The discoverer of the variety speaks very highly of it in cooler climates.

I'd like to hear more too, it's on my list to put in ground here in PA.

Yes, it matches nothing in the USDA collection.

Agristarts is growing a tray for me.  I should have them in the Spring.  I'll want to recoup my costs but that's about it.

How do you do a fig DNA test? How costly it is?

I bought one from Raintree last fall and it will be coming to me in spring.

Anyone know where the originally discovered tree is? I'm from Olympia and live 45 min north now. I wouldn't mind visiting it...maybe even with a pair of clippers :)

I got an Olympian Fig tree from Burnt Ridge Nursery several years ago.  Currently in a large pot.  It's very slow growing but might provide some cutting material (about two sticks) this year if anyone in Seattle wants to try rooting them.

The original tree is still there in Olympia but I don't know the location.

Bumping this up; anymore updates? I'd really like to know how the older trees are growing now that it's been out for awhile.

Just came back from the nursery with another Olympian. I went there to get a 5" pot of it as a present, and found 1-gallon Olympians instead. So I ended up getting one to give, and one to keep.

While there I had a chat with one of the nursery workers and she seemed excited about them, said that she had given an Olympian to a friend last year and that it had grown and was bearing a lot of fruit this year.

Hi ema, it is still potted. If it tastes as good this year as last, I'll find a spot in ground for it. It was really tasty last year.
