Any Vern's Brown Turkey news ?

My Vern's BT is a highly productive tree and for 3 seasons it has not ripen a single fig for my zone. I am wondering whether anyone has any info on this variant especially how it taste.

If I was you I would eliminate all branches without fruits or a fruit or 2,right now,so sun and light goes trough.
Also brake off half fruits the newest one,in order to have the energy go to the remaining half.
Thenthey might ripe till 1st of November.

Hi,

What is a Vern's BT?

Thanks,

noss

Noss, see product profile in "One Green World Nursery" for Vern's Brown Turkey.

Herman, have done the "suggestions" but still no ripe figs over last 2 seasons. May be it helps to have a head start in a green house for my zone. This variant is productive, like a fig machine. Perhaps the lack of news from this variant is due to its less favourable status of BT. I am thinking of digging this one out & placed in pot culture to find out the next season.

Move to Victoria Island!
The easy option is to move the plant to the south side of a wall.
I got some ripe figs and most are from plants on the south side of the garage wall. The least ripe I got are from figs under a tall spruce tree even though they are mostly in sun. Now I don't go too often near the spruce tree because there is a beehive in my mapple leaves compost pile by the tree side and the bees gather around to scare me away whenever I get close to see if any fig ripened. I guess winter snow will take care of the bees because it has always done it in the past.

Good suggestion Ottawan. It's a very nice place. Unfortunately too many provincial politicians staying in Victoria. My VBT currently is parked in a spot that has sun the whole day, together with RdB, Capelas, Hollier, Latarulla, Osborne Prolific, DK, Marseillies VS. I think your air layered RdB has roots. I think I will put either Dauphine or Grantham's Royal in its spot.

It would be great if some members had some experience on how this VBT variant performed.

Thanks Paully

Well, it has been almost a year since the last post on Vern's BT.  Any updates?   Interesting in hearing how the Vern's BT is doing with others, as this is one I am interested in.   @Paully, did you move it to a pot by chance?

Thanks in advance, Sara
