Oh, my!
That's a lot of figs!
I am glad I started this thread.

Do you have a favorite?

Thank you for the clarification and wonderful pictorial presentation of your Figs OZ...
I wish you many prosperous business years to come.

Mystery solved :)

NEXT? LOL

My favorites In order are as follows: VdB, Raspberry Latte, Col de Dame, Petite Negra,
Celeste and JH Adriatc. Violette De Bordeaux figs are so delicious that I'm growing four of them! :)

Hello Aaron,

Thank you very much for your kind words!  Best wishes to you as well my friend.

Thank you, Oz!
I love my VdB too.

Do you have any that require pollination?
There are very nice varieties that you can enjoy because of the wasp.
Check the Francisco's threads (lampo) for those. He is in Portugal but that doesn't matter.

Nice to have one more SoCal person on board :)

Welcome OZ...Hopefully, you can help some of us newer growers with your expertise! ( great bunch of Figs growing you have)........Great bunch of people here, I know you will fit in....; )

Hey I am so happy you posted these pics. I am confident you will get a lot more bids now we know you are a collector or an addict lol

Yes GreenFig she is selling ones that require pollination but  seems unaware of it, at least it isn't mentioned in the listing.

Are you married?  You certainly fit here.  I hope you stay.

Gloria,
I just checked the listing and didn't see the varieties that require pollination (unless the Maslyn does, I am not familiar with it).
It seems she lives in the location with the wasp and may not even aware of when a particular variety needs to be pollinated. I have the same problem, I cannot tell since all my figs are pollinated.

The Encanto Red needs to be pollinated according to some research I did on this site.... I was bidding on it till I realized, wouldn't have bid at all if I'd known.

ENCANTO RED

SYN: BMAD005
DESCRIPTION
A seedling from the 2005 season at Encanto Farms, San Diego, CA, presumed to have Black Madeira as one parent.
May possibly be a Smyrna type, based on fruit drop in early portion of the season, and their persistence in the latter part of the season.

BLACK MADEIRA
DESCRIPTION
Perhaps the best tasting fig that exists. Needs more heat and a longer season than most. Ripens, but lacks flavor and sweetness after first cold weather. Splitting is a problem in some years: usually the same years that Panachee has a splitting problem.

pitangadiego

This is a seedling from 2006 or 2007? Mad005 became Encanto Red. This one, Mad002, will get a new name. Maybe Fico Pesca d'Oro.

This was picked today (and others over the last few weeks). These were from a growth and fruit flush that began in August, and are ripening now. It has a distinctly "peachy" taste, and texture a little bit reminiscent of Shtawi, which ripens around Christmas. Can't imagine how good it would be if ripened in the summer.

If you could kindly share your source of this information Gramaley?

From what I see this is what Bass had to say about this.

Bass
I see... Ripening with out the presence of any wasps this time of year indicates its a common type.
What makes this fig MAD

Encanto Red is not Fico Pesca d'Oro.

The thread you read and Bass' comment are all about BMad 002, Fico Pesca d'Oro.

BMad 005 was mentioned in the beginning and the name given to it was Encanto Red.  There are no further comments on that thread about Encanto Red.  Jon, based on observations over a few years, believes Encanto Red requires the wasp.  No one will know for sure until it's grown outside of wasp territory.  It is wise to assume it needs the wasp until it's proven otherwise.

Posted by Jon- Andy, it is "luck of the draw". I keep a few that volunteer in the yard each year, and see what happens. The batch from 2004 yielded one winner, "Encanto". This one from 2005 is one of probably 3 that will pan out. B Mad 005 became Encanto Red. It is a very nice fig, but a smyrna type.

The point of mentioning it was so you could be more informed about what you were selling, but you seem to take great offense.
This the thread that made me believe you maybe didn't know you had figs that needed pollination, otherwise why send a one to some that couldn't use it.

We are all learning here, The fact that I am telling others to research before purchasing cuttings is nothing personal against you. Also remember the fig cuttings that I sent out were gifts. Not even the member that received it complaint to me. Yet you took it upon yourself to contact me with a PM to complain. You told me the fig I sent out as a GIFT was useless to the receiver. You even went as far as saying I was being deceitful. You consider that great offense? I personally can do without all that animosity on your behalf. You forget this forum has plenty of members with vast knowledge including plenty of resources.

Dearest OZ,
As I have said, I assumed you didn't know, so I was doing what I considered the responsible thing in letting you know. What you do after that is your business, and you let me know you think it is your buyers responsibility to seek out that info. Greenfig asked and I answered.
As I told you in my last PM I feel no more need to have a dialog with you, and this thread was about what you were selling, so for people that I know who would want this info and even asked you for it I posted to them.
And yes I feel it is deceitful to have information and not give it freely, I said that after you indicated you would not make anyone aware of the information I sent you.

Seeing reality your way does not necessarily imply others are being deceptive. Assuming or insinuating any other factors is just simply irrational. I have not denied anyone any information. I collect fig trees, that is why I am offering cuttings to others. An opportunity to share with others a different varieties that they might not have in their collection. It's not all about you. The funniest part is that I have not done any transactions with you. You bid on my .99 cent auction. Yet after someone else outbids you, you contact me to complaint? As if I owe you anything? Then you come to f4f giving your version of how things should be? Trying so hard to tarnish my reputation. SMH, No comradery on your end. Well do not forget what goes around comes around..... Good luck to you... Sorry you couldn't win that auction..Not my fault it didn't sell for $2.00.... Also those stanford fig cuttings you kept complaining about...They were gifts!!!.... I did not sell them to you or anyone else! Do not forget, You contacted me first. So I'm pretty much done with your childish deceitful misinterpretation of things.

Wow you are a snarky individual, I have been wanting to add a red to my figs, but when the bidding was getting close to 20$ I decided to see if it was really worth it.... so I did a search where I learned that it needed pollination.
Went back checked your listing to see if I had missed this info, because others who sell tend to add this info if they know it.
I wasn't complain about any cuttings, I was using them as a way to say you didn't realize that these figs need pollination or you might have sent something else, each time I have been trying to give you the benefit of the doubt but you just seem to want to be insulted.
I'm glad we are clear that yes I contacted you to give you info, you responded with less than common courtesy.
I also didn't imply, I believe it is deceptive to have information about something you are selling and not let the buyer know.
Get your facts straight...

My first post on this forum. I was one of the many who bid on the said Ebay auctions and won only one of them. My cuttings arrived here today. They look just perfect. Packed nicely in moist paper napkin inside a zip-lock bag. I also got two extra cuttings as a gift.

Lot has been said on this thread. Just wanted to add my experience and yes, I will most certainly bid again on her ongoing auctions.
