Just curious how they look inside/outside and a taste profile.
My little tree has not produced this year so I was wondering how should I treat it next year.
How does it compare to a Chicago Hardy and a MBVS?

This summer has been weird on many fronts for figs, I noticed.

So I assume that tiny creature is a St. Rita? How would you describe the taste?
What are those big boys on the middle photos?

The baby was the 1st fig of the year from it. The double pic was more the average. I photo the 1st of year  even though it might not be best example

In TX, St. Rita in pot ripened much earlier (July ) than Hardy Chicago. At this time, in my Zone, I would classify St. Rita as a Mid Season Fig Vs a late season(August) Hardy Chicago.

It actually was significantly more productive  earlier and later with better figs, but I need to note my Chicago was one of my oldest figs and root bound until planted in ground this year and is lacking vigor. I expect it to establish better, My Chicago that was inground already has not fruited yet as froze to ground like everything else. The St Rita are in ground as of this year as well but were not root bound when planted out.

St. Rita has been the most precocious tree this year.  I have some first year trees with more figs, but none earlier.  From cutting to fruit this year and tad taller than 6'.

These pics are from 10-12 days ago, I was waiting to sample more, and see if this one was consistent.
 Posting pics now seems like as good as any.  Not sure about that eye, maybe just this fig?  We shall see...

Taste was fabulous 8.5 (I'm leaving room for CdDB and Preto in my rating list)  

Rich, complex, we thought it tasted tropical if that is a description.

I'm leaning toward it not being a true Mt. Etna type as the leaves seem different from my Sal'sEL, Takoma Violet and MvsB which have leaves very similar to each other.  It also does not seem to have quite the long neck like those three have.  Nevertheless, the flavor profile (to me anyway) seems similar to Mt. Etnas.

Although at the end I think only the MBVS and a Takoma Violet will make it, they are outstanding !

Two years ago St Rita was by far the best fig I've ever tasted, including Preto and HC.  Last year we had temps in the mid 30s in early July and it went to sleep and didn't wake up until mid - late August.  Not a single fig.  This year it produced a few early figs that were tasteless just like most of my others.  Now I have 2 figs from it that are tiny and are in line to be tasted and photographed.  My other figs have recovered and are now producing great fruit.  So I dug them out of the second half of the pile

The taste has improved considerably but it's nothing like it was.  I'm not an expert but the taste of the figs 2 years ago would put it far above the Mt Etnas for me.  I hope I can get that taste back.

Now this is bizarre.  When I was writing the post the photos showed up.  When I posted it they were gone.  When I went to edit it they reappeared.  So I posted it and they were gone again.  My photos from Google have always posted fine.  It's the forum's fault  :)
