--- Anybody is growing Unk. Pastilliere (ripe PIX updated)?

I have one with a few figs.
Does yours look similar?

Is this what people call the Unk. Pastilliere from Jon?

I got mine from Rafed. I think he got it from Jon. And yours looks like mine. :)

This is the Pastilliere that I purchased from Raintree. It has not fruited yet but Dennis purchased from them 3 years ago and he described the figs as "It was better than excellent" and "Pastillere were super fantastically amazing!" so I think I have the right one, but you never know.

Thanks, Gina, for a confirmation! Has yours fruited yet?

Wayne, what you are showing means the Unk. Pastilliere from Jon is not like yours (hence Unk.).
Do you have any fig photos from Dennis by any chance to compare with my Unk. ?
Maybe the leaves look different but the figs are the same?

BTW, here is my Pastilliere from Raintree too, with any luck, I may taste it later this season.

So are you saying that they are different and Jon's is unk and Raintree's is the Pastillierre?

That’s what I was trying to find out from Jon at the Fiesta.
He said he gave the tree the prefix "Unk." since the label was lost but he thought that was a Pastilliere.
So it is possible that the Jon’s Unk. Pastilliere is not an actual Pastilliere but some other awesome fig.

As far as what we have from Raintree is a different question.
It would be helpful from an expert to confirm or deny what tree bought! I will post the fruit photos when they get ripe for sure.

Unk Pastiliere came with no name, and early fruit looked similar to Pastiliere, hence the UP name. Leaves are always a light, bright green color.

In a previous thread about this fig, Shah8 (I think) suggested Unk. Past. was probably a sport from Pastiliere - Pastilliere.

Yes. I got 1 or 2 the first year. I remember carrying its 5 gallon pot inside at night so no critter would get it.
This year I had more fruits (It's second year), but some dropped (as others have reported), perhaps because of water stress. But some hung on, and I've eaten two thus far. It's a good tasting fig, and very pretty.

Thanks, Gina.
Did they look like mine?
You do not have a photo by any chance?

Sorry, no photo, but the fruits do look like yours. Same shape, same ridges. :)

Do you doubt that's what you have?

I didn’t get mine from Jon and wanted to verify that what I have is an Unk. Pastilliere.
Esp. because I have 2 others that came named simply “Pastilliere”.  All of them look different :(
I clearly do not need 3 Pasti !

All three should give me the fruit by the end of this season (I posted the photos of one from Grasa several times, very good fig).

The UP is not like any other fig I have eaten.

Here is mine...

Thank you, WillsC.
How productive is it for you?

Nice tree Wills, did you get fruit this year?

My potted tree came from cuttings from Gina.  The leaves on the first two feet of growth were single-lobed and huge, one up to 12".  Now the leaves have lobes and fruit is forming and may have time to ripen.  Fruits have long stems (like Igor's, but smaller and still green).

Mine was just started this winter and planted out March 15th.  It has a bunch of figs on it but none ripe yet.

Ok fig loving people, here is a moment of truth!

I just tasted a ripe super-duper tasty ripe Unk. Pastilliere. Like Jon said, the taste is like nothing else, it is basically a sour cherry with strawberry jam.
Very-very good fig.

But! (there should be a but here)  this is the same fig as Grasa shared with me some time ago and I posted the pix of her Pastilliere over here:

Basically, the Grasa’s Pastilliere and the Jon’s Unk. Pastilliere is the same fig as far as the taste, size and color go.
The leaves are slightly different but very little.

I am happy you like this fig. At least someone can taste it.. All my figs aborted, except for one... which I give it a day to do it... Not sure if it is our cold weather of this fig needs a wasp or a combination of factors.

I am sorry to hear that, Grasa.
I know that there are people outside the wasp belt who grow this fig.
Would be nice to hear if they get them nice and ripe.
