Anyone Chow Down A JH Adriatic ?

Would love some feedback on this variant. This morning I saw a picture of a 6 month old tree loaded with some main crop JH Adriatic figs. I know its a great fig, but some latest yummy pic's helps to spice up the expectations from my small  JH tree that has one fig.

I got a single JH Adriatic cutting from a generous fig friend, only to have the squirrels chomp off the three branches on it a few weeks back.  It looked like it was going to die off, but the bottom inch or so hasn't shrivelled (still green), so I'm hoping it's going to spring back and I'll get to try this one?  It came highly recommended, so .... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've been searching for JH Adriatic for a year now with no luck.  It wasn't in my UC Davis order either.  I am hoping to get lucky and find one this year.  From what I am hearing it is an awesome fig to have.

I also have a couple of Young trees, and one has 6 fruits, three in advanced size and 3 starting now.
Yet I have a personal information, from a great gardener in North Jersey with an extensive number of fig cultivars, telling me it is the best producing, best tasting fig in his garden.
This year I have a chance to sample fruits ,thow they might not be full flavor, when tree is so young, but we will see.

Paully, I've got one about to ripen on a small tree still in it's gallon pot. I'll post picture here when it does.

Dennis, you just got lucky, lol. I have a gallon sized one with your name on it. Email me. I got the cuttings from the source of this tree.

Thanks Tim. Would be nice to know how super tasty especially with Herman's recent tip on its goodness. I had a hard time rooting this variant and savouring its fruit
would come delicious. Many thanks to the person who made sure I got this variant by providing sufficient cuttings.

Paully, it's funny how a variant can root easy for one and be hard for another. They rooted easily for me.

Strange. I shared some cuttings with a friend & it rooted real easy for him. I think he managed to root 4 cuttings. Eventually I managed to root 3 cuttings out of 10. Gave 2 away. All rooting were done using spaghnum moss with the aid of my aquarium chamber using warm water to simulate high humidity. Also tried rooting them in apartment boiler room and achieved some success. I finally tossed out balance of rotted wood in June from the boiler room.

i had only one, it rooted very easy.  it would still be here, but those damned squirrels....

I would also want to note that my Jh,was started from cuttings in March, this year, and it has 6 figs as explained above ,all of them will ripe, because I broke off the others fruits and pinched the tips,so the fruits are somewhat advanced in growth.
What is intristing,is that this JH Adriatic,is going to be my third cultivar, that produced, ripe fruits, the first year from cuttings.
The only others, from all about 100 cultivars now inground,in my backyard that produce ,the first year from cuttings were:
Marseilles vs Black,and Sal Gene,EL,strain).
So I have no doubt it is a very willing to grow and produce cultivar, just like my gardener friend,Antonio Esposito told me.

This is good news Herman. Please keep us posted on this cultivar. I am sure  many would like to know how it performs in different zones. My JH is taking off and I have been giving it dilute MG fertilizer frequently.

Paully, here's the picture of the first JH Adriatic fig. Been raining for two days, taste was pretty insipid, but it's the first fig on a one gallon plant started in March. I'm not worried about the taste as I know it will improve with maturity(too many good reports). The fig was not split, I cut in half before I remembered to take a pic, lol.

Congratulations Tim & thanks for the pictures. Interior colors looks very nice. Likely this could well be the 1st pic of JH Adriatic interior posted. Fully agreed that this variant would do excellent in your zone. I have good expectations for it .

Hello, Last year was a crappy summer to grow figs (here in NJ).Yet JH Adriatic fig grew productively. Also grew the best tasting figs I ever had ! I also want to mention while some of my best cultivers were splitting badly from all the rain we had; this fig was superb in taste with NO splitting. A very strong strawberry taste.I think it is the skin that has the strawberry flavor rather than the pulp. Anyway if you have one of these fig trees you will know what I am talking about and if you don't then you should get one. My sincere thanks to the source and for the kind gentleman who gave me a small rooted cutting.
             Stay Well,
                      Anthony
