Anyone Growing Figs in a Greenhouse?

We are super lucky to have 2 real experts on greenhouses on this forum!

Chivas,
Thanks for the workaround on the expensive anti condensate!  You wonder why they wouldn't install the top support over the hoops as a standard?

Steve,
If I understand you are saying putting a frost cloth or similar over the figs for the dormant period that provide R10-20.  Do you still have the issue with temperatures rising too high during the day if the figs have an insulated covering?

I didn't explain fully sorry, it's not a work around to anti condensate, even with anti condensate plastic it will still have some condensation especially after a couple of years use. This is something some builders do standard with customers are building, it just helps reduce the issue of it dripping from the top.

Understood!
Thanks

If figs were covered with good insulation then the area above the insulation but inside greenhouse could be warmer by day and colder at night than without the insulation layer. Frost blanket even the very heavy kind isn't going to be R10, I don't believe. You'd need something like a thick layer of dry leaves on top of the frost blanket to get insulation that high. Jugs full of water around the figs would help by supplying heat mass.

That's a lot of options to consider..LOL

Too many rodent issues in my area so I would like to stay away from leaves.
Frost blanket with heat sounds interesting.
Another option could be to grow the figs very low step over style and cover the branches with dirt.  Being inside the greenhouse dirt shouldn't wash or blow off.  Could rake it away in spring.
