Although I'd seen it on some 'best tasting' fig lists, I also thought it was popular mainly for the look - which I thought a bit too gaudy. Then I visited someone who had a mature tree in full sun with ripe fruits... and it was very good tasting. Nice and rich, the best of several I tasted that day - and well worth growing.

My plants are still tiny, but I'm hoping if I flog them with the best care, I might get a taste later this year. My impression is that it's a slow, dense grower with close nodes.

Frank, try Peaceful Valley at groworganic.com or call them at 888-784-1722. I bought 2 Panache trees from them. They just got delivered. Great packaging and nice trees. Probably better to call them as web page may not be up to date. $19.99 for tree and 7.99 for shipping.

Hey Frank ckd fridge and I have one w your name on it
Paying it forward gotta love this place.

Thanks everyone for ALL the offers!!!!! Tony, I hate to say this but they have to go back in fridge ;(  , I emailed Ficus .

I'm also looking for Panache. groworganic.com is sold out.

Gina, in my experience with the Panachee here is that she grows quickly and very vigorous, I got mine from UCD.  They have grown to be my second fastest tree(it put on about 3 feet of growth last year), it grows a tad bit faster than Diredo did for me, but slightly slower than Colisanti Dark if that is any point of reference.

Again, Encanto Farms is a great source for these.  Click on Pitangadiego's name and email him.  You'll get a 2-3' plant that may very well bear this year for not much more than a cutting on ebay.

Good idea. I was just looking on ebay too. I'll email encanto right now. Thanks.

John just got back to me, he doesn't have any panache at the moment. :(

He might not have trees but I think he still has cuttings.

if you can wait, give it a year or so, Panache is not very hard to find varieity. we are reaching end of the cutting season, the trees breaking bud and all. this fall or next spring, there should be plenty of cuttings around.

Gabrielromelio ifl my cuttings make it, I will be glad to send you one. Frank

That would be great Frank. Thank you.

So Chivas, are you really getting enough heat for a long enough time up there in Canada to get good fruit from this one?  I know you're a zone or two "warmer" than where I am (at least by some measures), but I figured you've also got a shorter growing season.  Have you gotten good Panachee fruit there?  (If so, I might have to reconsider my decision to avoid that one, as a bad match for my climate).

Mike   central NY state, zone 5

Mike, these figs will ripen in a grow room if you have one.

Hi all, fespo sorry for using your post....
panache is  a beautifull piece of conversation point. i dont care about the taste.(dont know how it is).

Elin, Panache is one of the best tasting figs around.  It resembles strawberry.  My tree has come out of dormancy, but I started it a long time ago from cuttings from UC Davis.

Suzi

Hope to taste some this summer.
