http://www.hiddenspringsnursery.com/plants.html Does anyone have any experience with them? I was looking to get a persimmon and a jujube, they seem to be the cheapest I found. And shipping is fairly cheap. I know cheapest isn't always best though. They do have a few figs too, nothing out of the ordinary though.
Only thing I ever had from them was some Chinese Melon Berry (or Che) plants. They were worthless, and never fruited, and took them out after few years. Still have my original pair from Oregon Exotics. Can't peaks for the rest of their stuff.
I ordered their autumn olive selections before they became illegal for them to sell and they were all very nice plants. I also ordered some goumi shrubs that were mislabeled from the source they used and they gladly replaced them for me. I found them to be very nice folks to work with and would order from them again in a heartbeat.
I got some Guava and Passion fruitsFor the price, the plants were nice and arrived in good condition. They are thriving.
No experience with hidden springs.I ordered a few Autumn Olive from Cold Springs Farm. Very good prices and quality. I also have thorny olive and the berries are very good, but they seem to be ready all at the same time for a week in July. There is a video on you tube about Autumn Olive that refers to them as "inside out berries". Tart but sweet and plentiful. Pits are soft and edible. Good for making fruit leather in a dehydrator. Nitrogen fixing, very fast growing, and considered invasive, since the birds can spread the numerous seeds all over.https://www.coldstreamfarm.net/p-94-autumn-olive-elaeagnus-umbellata.aspxMy che came from a local grower in Tifton who advertised on Craigs, near Tyty. Very thorny and were growing in very sandy soil down there. I put them in red clay and mushroom comp last year. They are all doing great at about 3 feet high (from 2 feet high when planted last year) but no fruits yet. Seem completely unaffected by the near zero temps. I have 4. The growers trees were very narrow and tall with a weeping habit. I think I paid $10 each for potted.
