Anyone recognize this mislabled fig

This is the mislabled Desert King.  Whatever it is, it passed the splitting test since we are getting a lot of rain and no splits, not even cracking.  I picked this a little too late since it was mushy with little texture and slight after taste of mold starting to take hold.  It was also watery do to all the rain.  I would like to try this under drier conditions.

Black Jack?

I think you might be right.  I was hoping for something out of the ordinary.  I didn't think about Black Jack.  That cavity in the fig is a characteristic of Black Jack too.

How is the taste comparing with Negronne?

I was persuaded that is was something better than Black Jack till I saw the interior. Mine are never that dark on the outside, but the interior does look like that. In good, warm, dry weather they will develop more juice and sugar, but the open eye does lead to spoilage if conditions are not just right.

There is no comparison they are not even close to a nice ripe negronne.  Its interesting how different figs can perform depending on the environment.  Maybe in a hot dry climate these are acceptable figs?

Black Jack is genetically related to Brown Turkey per UCD Research - they both have a large void in center. Big difference is that Black Jack looks like a winner - almost like Violette Soleis - till you cut it open. I sent a Black Jack to a forum member in SC year before last and I've seen the fruit - looked awesome - void not that large, but it was there.
