Anyone watch the show: Shark Tank? "Tree-T-Pee"

This concept is somewhat familiar to most of us.  This farmer has a patent on this and has been using it in Florida to protect against freezes and more importantly, conserve water.  Click on the link after watching the video.  What a great guy.

I enjoyed that, thanks for posting it.

The things I could do with an extra $120k...

Enjoyed the Video, Thanks for sharing.........

Thanks for sharing, great video.

Reduces water usage from 25,000 gallons to 800 gallons? Having a hard time believing that. Also, he talked about restricting the water to the trunk as if it were a good thing. For most trees, the water is best distributed around the drip line. I'm out!

I enjoyed that very much!It seemed like the moisture stayed in the tpee without that much evaporation and a lip on the tpee return evaporation back to plant not sure but I like it. Wonder if it would work good with fig trees?

What an honest person, I could tell his priority was protecting American Farmers.
...and God bless Hohn Paul and people like him.

I agree that it doesn't seem like an ideal way of watering a tree, but it does seem like an ideal way of protecting citrus graft unions from freeze failing.  I wonder if there are other markets this would be a good match for?  Sometimes when you get something like this out there new customers figure out what else it's good for for you.

Seems like it could be great during first few years of establishment, especially in an arid climate. Good video:-)

Couple thoughts.
I think this would work with figs and will try a few this summer.
If I have space I will do controls for a fair comparison.
They are cheap enough.
In most cases the trees in our area will do well without additional water but might do getter with a little more.
The irrigation is supplementary for us and most likely for those folks in Florida where this was developed.
The additional warming of the roots will help in the spring and help keep weeds away from the base.
Anyway will try and post how it goes.

Just remembered my sister is driving to Florida this week and they sell them in home depo in Florida...
And she coming here in 3 weeks.  Yes!!  Just left her a message.

not all Home Depots in Florida sell them, I checked the other day

Just an absolute great story actually made me tear up. Just true honesty and compassion.

Well still going to try some.  I checked and the shipping doesn't change by the number so I'll see if a few of my friends want to piggy back on my order.  I think I'll start with 10 for myself.

I can see howww these could work quite well in very hot locations like NV, FL, NM, or CA. You still have to worry about rodents getting in and eating up your tree. And a drip emitter or micro sprinkler is a cheaper option. Nice product but....... I'm out.
