Apple question

No figs in this post, but I noticed that several of my Anna apples are going bad on the bottoms. when I picked this one, it had three stink bugs on it (evidently one of them was camera shy). Does anybody know if they are actually causing the spoilage, or did they just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

This is stink bug damage from the invasive ones we have here.

Could it be blossom end rot? I have never grown apples but the spoilage being on the bottom seems important to me.

Brent, after seeing your post I looked up blossom end rot, but it sounds a bit different than what I'm seeing. But, I have also seen apples damaged just like the images you posted, so it appears the stinkbugs are up to no good--even if the rot is being caused by something else.
