Are there years when critters DON't eat your figs?

My mystery tree is full of figlets as usual for this time of year.  I am going to attempt to cover what I can of the tree with a net in hopes of getting some figs when I return in August.  Has anyone ever had some years when the animals don't eat your figs?

Nope.

Not every year is as bad.
It depends if there is a lack of other wild fruits close.
If pine trees did not make any cones, mulberry, have less ,then they will go for peaches, figs  ,apple etc.

Never.

I never really understood how lucky I was.  About 10 years ago I lived in south Georgia and had 2 large fig trees that produced hundreds of figs in mid summer.  I rarely saw birds or other critters in those trees and always had many more than I  knew what to do with.

It wasn't until after I moved that I realized what good thing I had going.  Now I have minimal fruit on small, young trees, and birds everywhere.

I feel your pain, Rufus.  Welcome to the forum.
