Are these two the same one?

Kathleen's Black Fig  Dark violet to blackRedBiferaMy favorite fig [photo]; May be same as Noire de Caromb, but not sure; Fruit is similar to but slightly larger than Black Mission, with violet/black skin splitting (superficially) at maturity, rich, sweet taste; leaves are somewhat similar to Negronne, but KBF¡¯s are a little larger and not glossy; Immature fruit will sometimes color early, similar to Negronne, but only with full sun exposure. Fall crop begins ripening mid to late August, entire crops ripens over a short period

I am getting one of these from a very kind member who will remain namless. if you read the aurthor says he thinks that Kblack is the same as Noir de coromb. noir being the fig my heart desires the most from what i have read about it. but there is to much confusion out there as to what is what, and i havent found much more info other than this at this time. so here it is are they one and the same. or related, or just both dark figs. has anybody grown both of these that can compair. or one or the other. just some good solid first hand input here.

thanx

This question comes up from time to time. I will be growing both next year so I'll be able to tell first hand but another member, Dennis has grown them side by side and determined they are not the same. Gene left the fig field before he determined one way or the other. Get both.

that would be the only way to know for sure. wonder what Jon or the folks at ucd think.

looking at the pictures of NdC and my Kathleen's Black, i don't think they are the same. so far i have not had luck getting me a NdC, and i sort of lost interest. herman thinks that are same or similar enough he is not getting NdC.

Well i know i really want NdC but if this KB is close to it i cant wait to get figs. and with the new additions being made i should have a few differant tast come summer of 2014. why must they so tasty to cause addiction in growing the trees?

few of the members had issue getting figs off of KB. my KB took 3 years before it put on the figs.. that is after i pinched and changed the fertilizer. others didn't seem to have an issue.

<sigh>......I have them both.  They are not the same.  My KB came from VS.  My NdC came directly from England.  Both of my trees fruit this year.  The figs from both are excellent tasting.  Prune your KB and stand back for a lot of figs.
