Are you hungry for a fresh figs?

Bass,

That would be great wouldn't it?

Speaking of drying figs.

I remember when I was a little boy in the old country most of the houses were flat roofed and my Nana ( grandma ) would place the sliced tomatoes on a flat tray and place the tray on the roof in the hot sun to dry.

I know most of us don't have flat roofs but can we use this same method in drying our figs? like in the yard or something?

Rafed, Fig drying is very common in the mediterranean households. Almost every house in the middle east dry figs on the roofs. For us here it's hard to accomplish because of two main reasons:
High humidity, drying requires lower humidity
hot sun, the timing of fig ripening time is usually towards the end of summer for us and the temperature is usually cooler.

I'm sure it can be accomplished in parts of California and Arizona.

Bass do you sell any of these fig varieties? I am really interested in you Bass no 8. How do you describe this one?

Sorry I don't have it available. I hope to propagate it in the future once I make sure it will produce well for me. Right now it looks like I have a couple figs on the cutting that I started this summer. It's kept in the greenhouse, so we'll see.
The #8 has anexcellent flavor. It caught my attention where I collected it from, the branches were just loaded with figs. When I opened the fig i was surprised by the color of the pulp. As I ate it, it melted in my mouth, with a flavor that prises the creator.

Thank you Bass.  Just looking at these pictures was like a little taste of summer.

Peace be with you my friend.

John
