Arizona Figs

Picked and ate 9 figs from 9 different trees this morning...all different varieties.   This is why we do this.
I was hoping to include pics of my hedge, but most of the pics I took this afternoon  won't post.

There has not been a lot of figs this year.   Many are just now beginning to produce ripe fruit, and our first frost can't be too far off.  The trees are young, and we had a lot of die back due to a harsh winter and no protection last year, so there were only a few brebas, and main crop figs are later than I expected.  Hoping next year will be different.

Northern Arizona temps in the 70's and 80's today.  Life is good.

You and me both!  My figs are looking as they should in July.  Weather.com said it was 35 last night (it probably wasn't that low) and everyone has green leaves in my backyard and are pumping out new figs.  My Hardy Chicago is still ripening figs that taste good.

As I inspected the HC there was a yellow jacket going from organza bag to organza bag trying and failing to get in.   Big smile on my face.  Last night the pups were barking at the back door and I let them out and they ran after some creature and chased it out of the yard.  Perfect world here   :)  Except it's not july   :(

Well, we lost a lot because of the move, and I see birds or whatever are eyeballing whatever figs there are.  I'm giving it 3 years to figure out this new land.  One fig that is rocking it is Strawberry Verte!  Can't stop that fig!  It's all about BIG!  No figs this year, but the growth is amazing!  Thank you BackyardFarmer!
