I second the air and the over watering. There are several threads with tons of info on rooting cuttings, if you spend a little time reading them two things will happen.
1) You will learn everything you ever need to know and then some
2) Your head will start to spin from information overload
There are many ways to root cuttings, most are pretty evenly matched for success, just keep in mind everyone has different success with different methods until they discover and settle into "what works for them".
This is my first year rooting, I am trying 5 different methods to see what I like and what works for me. Also some cutting root very fast other can take a long time, some are much easier to root than others. Be patient and never give up them.
